Why Tobias is a Hufflepuff

UPDATE: I COULDN'T RECALL EXACTLY WHERE I HAD HEARD THAT HUFFLEPUFFS ARE GOOD FINDERS. I THOUGHT IT WAS CANON UNTIL SOMEONE POINTED OUT IT WASN'T AND I FOUND THE TRUE SOURCE OF THAT ATTRIBUTE. IT COMES FROM THE FAN-MADE A VERY POTTER MUSICAL. I STRANGELY HAVE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE AND YET KNEW THAT PART...

Two series that I adore are Animorphs and Harry Potter. So I, being me, had to combine both series. This time by thinking of which Animorph belonged in which Hogwarts Houses. Some of the Animorphs were easy to place while others were a little more difficult.

Tobias, for me, was rather easy to place. To me he always belonged in Hufflepuff.
Loyal

One thing that Hufflepuffs are most known for is their loyalty. Tobias is loyal to the cause of fighting off the Yeerks.

It was Tobias who first thought him and his friends should fight the Yeerks. He is one of the most loyal and true people you will ever meet.
Tobias did what he could do for his fellow Animorphs, even when he couldn't morph. He became an integral part of the group even when he couldn't fully join in on missions. Without his help, defeating the Veleek wouldn't have been done as easily.

At one point in the series he is willing to be tortured for the good of the group. Basically the Yeerks have come up with a weapon that will make a person come out of morph. So Tobias was willing to be tortured just so the Yeerks wouldn't think their new weapon worked.

Getting tortured and holding up under pressure is a very big sign a person is loyal.
Finding Things

Those in Hufflepuff tend to be excellent finders. Tobias has the task of finding something important for his friends. What something am I referring to?

Why Yeerk pool entrances of course!
While the Yeerk pool is hellish and the Animorphs would all like to stay away from it, they go back to it in the series multiple times. It is usually up to Tobias to keep track of Yeerk pool entrances.
Tobias is also known to be the eyes in the sky for the group. This is a little minorish role he has to keep the group safe.

This boy is also responsible for finding a few things. Things such as the Hork-Bajir Valley. Okay, so he was lead there by the Ellimist. I'll be getting back to a little more of what happened during that incident later in this post.

Tobias also found a Yeerk ship that had the function of getting air and water for the Yeerks in orbit. He was just flying one day and found it.
Valuing Fair Play

Tobias is all about fair play. As he grew up being bullied, it makes sense that his morality would be viewed through the lens of bullying. He makes comments in the series that compares the Yeerks' actions to bullying.

So Tobias likes things to be fair. He doesn't like underhanded methods being used.
Back to the Hork-Bajir Valley incident...Tobias is beyond pissed when the Ellimist tricks him. The god-like being had promised the boy that his wish would be granted. That the boy would be given what he wanted.

Part of the blame falls onto Tobias for not bothering clarifying what he wanted. Part of the blame also falls on the Ellimist for just being a giant blue dick.

For those wondering what the Elimist gave Tobias: it was his ability to morph.

For those wondering what Tobias wanted: his human body to be his main form so he could have his life back.
Now playing fair doesn't always mean doing the most morally good thing. Morality, as Tobias and his friends find out, is much harder to understand than they think. Sometimes the best decisions are morally grey and leave you wondering if you made the right call.

An example of this is Tobias allowing the Mercora to die. In the second Megamorphs book the Animorphs are transported to the age of dinosaurs via a Sario Rip (basically how time travel works in the Animorphs universe). While being there Tobias realizes that to keep his original timeline in tact, the Mercora needed to die.

He committed genocide on an entire species but without him allowing the species to die there would have been worse repercussions. It is playing fair as the Mercora were destined to die.
