Coming Soon: Hork-Bajir: A Mirror of Our Inner Ableist

Imagine that there is a war between birds. All the bird species are in war against each other for some reason. All the way from the far seeing eagle to the crafty raven to the energetic hummingbird. You can't fully understand the war because you are a snake.

While you can survive on the ground, you can't even begin to comprehend things that occur in the sky. As a snake you don't seem to have any part of the war and so you live your peaceful snake life. That is until the crows find a use for you and suddenly you're fighting a war you don't understand. A war you just want to leave but you can't.

That is what the Hork-Bajir face in the Animorphs series. They aren't as intelligent as the Andalites or Yeerks. They are pacifists that didn't think of killing before the Yeerks invaded their home planet. Their lack of comprehending their situation is the ultimate tragedy of their species.

Yet so many Animorphs fans want to believe the Hork-Bajir are smarter than they are in an attempt to look like they support the disabled.

Upcoming Review: Dune: The Butlerian Jihad (Patreon Exclusive)

Throughout the Dune novels, Frank Herbert frequently referred to the long-ago war in which humans wrested their freedom from "thinking machines." Now, in Dune: Butlerian Jihad, Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson bring to life the story of that war, a tale previously seen only in tantalizing hints and clues. Finally, we see how Serena Butler's passionate grief ignites the war that will liberate humans from their machine masters. We learn the circumstances of the betrayal that made mortal enemies of House Atreides and House Harkonnen; and we experience the Battle of Corrin that created a galactic empire that lasted until the reign of Emperor Shaddam IV.

When the Game of Thrones prequel Bloodmoon was announced I didn't feel excited. I assumed it only existed so that Game of Thrones didn't have to explain everything about the White Walkers in the final season. It felt lazy and I didn't want any part of it.

Now that that prequel has been scrapped, I don't feel like there has been any loss. Though I am now annoyed that there will never be a deep explanation about the White Walkers. Which means the paper thin backstory we know about them is the only thing we'll get in the show.

A Targaryen prequel sounds more appealing merely because Game of Thrones Season 8 isn't using it as an excuse not to explain the backstory of an important faction. I am also not getting my hopes up that this will be a great series.

Tarot Deck: Fandom Edition

I like to keep my spiritual side off of this blog as that's not what this place is about. This blog is about dissecting and celebrating different shows, movies, ect. So making a post that has to do about tarot wouldn't make sense.

However, if I were to combine tarot and fandoms I'm in the post would fit. Hence this post. This was partially inspired by me thinking about making a tarot deck of my fandoms and my disappointment about the Game of Thrones tarot deck. The latter had the Moondoor on The Moon card.

I will provide minor explanations about different parts of the tarot deck, but I'm not expecting some explanations to be useful to the newcomer. So if you're interested in doing tarot, you'll need to do your own research.

The Toxicity of Jonerys

We are all allowed to ship and no one should tell us no. It doesn't matter if our ships don't make any logical sense, are non-canon, are toxic, or only a few people ship them. We shouldn't be judged for what we ship as if it reveals who we really are. Shipping is for fun and shipping wars shouldn't exist.

So if I believe that then why am I writing this post? Well this is an analysis of the relationship between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones, not the people who ship them. If you want to have a Jonerys themed wedding, more power to you.

One reason I am writing this post is because Jonerys is one of the biggest ships on Game of Thrones. One could easily argue it is the biggest ship in the entire show. People were into the relationship long before they even met onscreen.

Another reason is that a lot of Jonerys shippers seem to ignore the darker aspects of their ship. They try to brush that darkness under the rug in an attempt to make the ship moral. So I want to talk about the dark subject matter that not many people have considered.

Superantural only has one more season to wrap everything up. No matter if you think the show should've ended after Season 5 or you want it to go on forever, you have to admit it has been quite a journey.

It all started with a mother burning on the ceiling and Dean telling Sam their dad has been on a hunting trip. Eventually it revealed itself to be about the apocalypse and two men doing their best to stop it.

I would've been more than happy to have the show end with Dean fulfilling his brother's request to get out of hunting and to live life with Lisa and Ben. But there have been some good storylines Post-Season 5 so I can't complain as much as I want to.

Plus I was able to get my husband into the show to the point I swear he watches it more than me.

While the giveaway is over, feel free to discuss IT.

IT Chapter 2 was a good movie. Was it perfect? No. Could it have followed the book a little more? Yes. Would I see it again? Yes.

IT Chapter 2 was also a good ending. But I've seen some articles speculating about an IT Chapter 3. While the book covered Derry's history more than the movie, that does not justify another sequel. The lore is invaluable, but the thing that held it together was the story of The Loser's Club.

I would dismiss these as mere rumors, but history has taught me that Hollywood has done more stupid things in the past.

A Fangirl's Exploration of a Game of Thrones Sequel

Many times it is good to delve deeply into a piece of fiction. This can be done to critique the work in question or to come up with theories for future installments in a series. In all cases if you're exploring a work in your free time, it should be done for fun.

Every now and again you need to think about a work of fiction just for fun. You don't need to worry about impressing other people. They will either like what you have to say or not. You just need to accept whatever turns out to be the case.

In this post I will talk about what a Game of Thrones sequel could entail. To make sure this fangirl rambling doesn't go on forever, I'll only focus on four characters.

The Raven Speaks: It Chapter 2 Changed Too Much

While watching IT Chapter 2 I tried to enjoy the movie as just a movie. But some of the changes just annoyed me.
