Shipping Confessions: Luna/Harry (Harry Potter)

Harry Potter is a series I highly enjoy. Even though it does have its problems, I will continue going back to it time and again. It treats children as adults and shows them that friendship is very important. Even though good doesn't always have such a happy ending, it is nice to see a happy ending every now and again.

Harry Potter is about the title character going through trials, tribulations, and helping to defeat Lord Voldemort. The majority of the series focuses on the wizard school of Hogwarts.

I'm looking at the non-canon pairing between Luna Lovegood and Harry Potter today.
Harry Potter is the main character of the series and is known as "the boy who lived". He is supposed to be this boy who will be able to save the wizarding world from the dark wizard Voldemort. However, he is constantly helped by his friends and allies.

His parents were killed by Voldemort when he was only a child and so he grew up with his abusive aunt, uncle, and nephew. It wasn't until he started getting letters from Hogwarts that he was aware of his wizard heritage. He is great to be the central character because he's the readers' eyes and mouth. You don't understand what's going on just like Harry Potter doesn't at first.

Harry Potter has great allies and friends like I mentioned before. He is able to do great feats but only because Hermione Granger gives him information or Ron Weasley helps him out with a plan. The Harry Potter series isn't Harry doing things on his own, it's him doing amazing things with the help of his friends.
Luna Lovegood is introduced as a crazy Ravenclaw student. As is evidenced by her Hogwarts house, she is smart. She values knowledge even if she does have some oddities to her. She may believe in things the majority of the wizarding world doesn't, but it's only because she believes she's found evidence about them.

Luna is soon revealed to actually know her stuff and even helps Harry with the final horcrux. She helps out Harry even when a lot of people don't think she's capable of anything worthy. She even has the name of "Loony Lovegood" which she doesn't pay much mind to since she has a very strong sense of self-esteem.

Luna is great at showing the complexities of how every member of a Hogwarts house isn't the same. Ravenclaw is about knowledge and a love of learning. Luna has both. She knows what is real and when something has  enough evidence to be considered real. She isn't dumb or an idiot, she just has a different system of belief than most wizards and witches.
Luna and Harry have great scenes together. One scene that I love to point out is Luna telling Harry that she can also see the thestrals. It turns out the creatures can only be seen by people that have seen a death. The scene gets to look at Luna's history and Harry's reaction to it.

Harry becomes friends with Luna and they do balance each other out. Harry is head of saving the wizarding world and Luna is able to bring him comfort and information so he doesn't become overwhelmed. Harry provides Luna with a friendship to show that not everyone thinks that she is crazy.

If Harry had never ended up with Ginny I think he should've ended up with Luna. They are a great couple and would help each other out.

What will I talk about in the next Shipping Confessions? Next Shipping Confessions I will look at a soldier out of time and a master assassin from The Avengers.
