Some Current High Points of Supernatural Season 10

Supernatural is a show that has gone on so long that it having problems isn't surprising. The longer something goes on the longer it has to disappoint. But this current season has brought up some very good high points.

Here are three things that I think prove that the show can still go places.
One thing people that don't ship Destiel have a problem with about the ship is that there's a third person unmentioned and yet involved: Jimmy Novak.

Jimmy is the vessel of Castiel and is a human being with all that entails. So if Castiel and Dean had sex, he would be there feeling it. What my headcanon about it was that Jimmy was okay with Castiel having sex with Dean, though he wasn't thrilled. He figured Castiel deserved that kind of comfort.

Of course that was only a headcanon and other people could have them with Jimmy being against Castiel having sex with Dean, but Castiel ignoring his vessel's wishes.

This season we were finally given a clear answer about Jimmy's state: he was dead and in heaven. Turns out that with Castiel being blown to pieces, Jimmy couldn't handle it and went to heaven.

I am glad that we were finally given an answer, though it really does seem to be the cheap way out. Instead of delving into the problem we're given an answer that tells us that we don't have to worry about it now or for the last few seasons.
Another thing that was never discussed with Castiel having Jimmy Novak as a vessel was what had happened to his family. Obviously a loving wife and daughter wouldn't just forget about their husband and father respectfully.

This season we finally find out that Claire, Jimmy's daughter, hasn't taken the revelation about Castiel too well. Her mother went to 'find herself' and Claire was left to try and build a life. So she never really fit in and is a little bit of a rebel.

Claire's situation makes Castiel try to repair the damage he has done. And she doesn't let him get off easily. The debates she has with him are refreshing as it provides another side of the story and has the writers actually acknowledge it.

While she has warmed up to him, it isn't full forgiveness. She still wants to be away from him most of the time but will now be in communication with him.
A small little sub-plot dealt with if angels should be on Earth or not. If that now would be a good time to go back to heaven and leave humanity to their own devices. That the vessels they posses do have lives of their own and deserve to live them.

This is the first time the show really talks about the humans that the angels use as vessels. Before it was just that they used humans as vessels and that was the end of that story.

Hannah, an angel, realizes that her vessel has a life and decides to return to heaven so that her vessel can get back to her husband.

This is also the sub-plot that leads Castiel to try to make amends with Claire.
