Basic Plot: Revolves around mysterious disappearances, world-wide, and specifically follows a group of people who are left behind in the suburban community of Mapleton. They must begin to rebuild their lives after the loss of more than 100 people.

Character Study
If you are looking for this to focus on solving why people disappeared, I would highly suggest you stop watching this show as that's not the point of this show. Hell, from what others have said the book doesn't answer this question. However, if you want a show that focuses on how characters would react to such a situation I would highly recommend this show to you. The Leftovers is much more of a character study than anything else. It focuses its attentions on the characters over the plot.

The Guilty Remnants
The Guilty Remnants is a strange cult that no one can really understand. It is only near the end of the Season that you see that it is deadly and not just odd. I don't like to give away major plot points so I can't tell you exactly what. What I can say is that this cult may focus on major mental manipulation of people outside of the cult as well as manipulating its own members.

Need to Know More About Meg
Meg Abbot (played by Liv Tyler) is one of the people that we don't learn about her history, at least not enough, this season. Why did she join the Guilty Remnants? Why were the Guilty Remnants looking for her? I hope that's answered next season and that she survives us finding out.

Final Thoughts
This series is turning out to be very good. It has many WTF moments as well as being one you really have to think about. I'm not good at figuring stuff out that's as symbolic/deep as what was in The Leftovers, but luckily there were people that are much better at figuring stuff out than me on the internet. Kevin and Laurie had a good dynamic this Season and I'm wondering if the Finale set up a real rivalry between the two. Here's hoping to many more great seasons!
