Shipping Confessions: Steve/Natasha (The Avengers and Captain America 2)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (aka MCU) is wonderful. It started as just Iron Man and has branched off into different superheroes as well as crossovers between one or more series. Such as The Avengers was a crossover between all the current superheroes.

Captain America (as seen in Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier) is an old fashioned hero with ideals that the world he is thrown into doesn't seem to have. He wants to protect the world as he tries to understand it. That's what his storylines mainly focus on.

Today I'm looking at the non-canon pairing between him and Natasha Romanov/Black Widow.
Captain America's real name is Steve Rogers. Steve was born a weak, asthmatic boy who had a strong heart. He was intelligent, kind, and loyal. It was those factors of his personality that made him an ideal subject to test a serum on. The serum would make the person it was injected into a super soldier.

Even after getting the life altering serum, Steve remained like he always had. The difference being that now he was strong enough to take out the enemies his original self couldn't.

Due to being frozen in ice, he has missed out around the last sixty years. So in The Avengers he had to learn to cope with his new reality while defending the world. While in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he has become more used to the world he now lives in.
Natasha Romanov has the codename Black Widow. She is a master assassin and is able to put morals aside if the mission calls for it. That isn't to say she doesn't have a set of morals, but it can vary depending on the situations she finds herself in.

She was found by S.H.I.E.L.D. and then began to work for them. She thought she was finally doing good but it turned out that Hydra had infiltrated the organization.

Romanov uses her femininity, her pretty face and body, as a way to infiltrate and make people underestimate her. In Iron Man 2 she pretended to be just another employee of Tony Stark and her opening scene in the Avengers ended with her calmly picking up her high heels after she had just kicked some bad guy ass.
Natasha and Steve complete each other. Where Natasha is ready to give up morals when need be, Steve is there to follow his morals even when the road is treacherous. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Natasha helps Steve escape detection by people that are after them.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, she also attempts to try and find Steve a girlfriend and he keeps saying no to every offer. It's almost like that she is afraid to get into any form of relationship, though she knows that she loves Steve.

Hell, a big part of my love for this ship is the second Captain America movie due to all the flirting done between the two. They are two great friends that care about each other. Both are strong-willed people that will do what they believe needs to be done.

What will I talk about in the next Shipping Confessions? Next Shipping Confessions I will look at the leader of a band of survivors and a woman with a katana from The Walking Dead.
