How It All Holds Together
What I find as a problem for American Horror Story, at least for now, is the fact that it can never hold a season together. In the first season (Murder House) it was the fact that the finale didn't feel like a solid ending, with the second season (Asylum) it was the fact that it tried to tell too much and felt stretched out near the end, and this one the finale felt a little flat. There was horror in this finale and plot lines were tied up, including the Supreme getting chosen, but this season deserved a better finale.
Very Concise, All Things Considered
This has been my favorite season of American Horror Story so far. Why is that? This one held itself up so well, had a very interesting story to tell, and had rules that it followed for the most part (Spalding, what are you? and Queenie, how did you get out of that situation?). I was more than excited to tune in each week to see how some of my favorite characters were doing (one of my favs this season was Misty).
Life Lessons
I like to think I'm good at certain social issues. This doesn't mean I always have the most PC mouth as I see a difference in being a decent human being and being afraid of certain words because they MIGHT offend and not taking notice if they actually do. But I can tell when a show is being sexist, racist, ect. while overall enjoying the show because the good far outweighs the bad (this doesn't mean I don't think improvements need to be made). When I watch this series I'm looking to be entertained so am shocked when people really think this show will be a positive influence on some issues. How American Horror Story is going so far it isn't going to make a stance (like: rape isn't needed to tell a horror story) on any issue unless it adds to the story in some way, but it will sure as hell entertain me for around an hour each week.
Final Thoughts
This season was the best one yet and I really wished it had a better finale for it. Lily Rabe graces us with her presence again, this time as Misty Day the witch who can bring creatures back from the dead. For the most part I didn't like Queenie since she swung wildly from one side to the other, all because she didn't know where she belonged. That's not a character type I usually enjoy. The rape at the beginning of this season didn't have the payoff I thought it should, so I would've loved for that scene to have been changed. Overall this season was highly enjoyable with little spooks and some good characters.

American Horror Story "Protect the Coven" Review
We are closing in on the final few episodes of this season and things are drawing to a close.
The most amusing scene this episode was where Marie, Fiona, and the Axeman killed the group of Witch Hunters. I don't know if I was supposed to be spooked by that scene or not. All I know is I could imagine how much fun everyone on set was having that day. Especially Danny Huston (aka the Axeman). Jessica Lange (aka Fiona Goode) seemed to have the time of her life when she killed the head Witch Hunter.
If I felt what I was supposed to feel during that scene: kudos to everyone involved.
If I was supposed to feel something different: may need to work out those kind of kinks for later seasons.
The relationship between Zoe, Madiosn, and Kyle was one I was excited for. Finally a relationship involving more than one person would be shown on tv. But, of course, it devolved into a love triangle and this episode resolved it. Sort of...
Kyle choose Zoe and Madison got pissed. Kyle and Zoe later leave (thanks to Myrtle) and I hope to see them before the Season Finale.
I, among others, are sort of pissed that Evan Peters has been wasted this season. Brought in and then put into the background. At least he did something this episode.
Queenie is back from the dead with very little explanation how. I don't mind that she is back, but how?
All we got was that her shooting herself in the head made her spit up the blessed bullet. But how could that happen? Why did it happen?
It seems Queenie being back was done with "She's back and don't ask why! We don't know!"
Another odd thing is Spalding being able to move things around even though he's a ghost.
However, like always, the atmosphere of the show is able to make me enjoy it even with the plot holes.
The scene where Cordelia blinds herself to get back her special sight is downright vomit inducing. I am glad I was home alone while watching that part as I was yelling at the tv.
Besides the horror of the scene, it shows that Cordelia is ready to risk everything for the good of the Coven. She would make a damn fine Supreme. Even though it's unlikely, I hope she'll be the next Supreme or that Myrtle will be.
Zoe just seems too obvious of a choice right now.

American Horror Story "The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks" Review
I have been meaning to review this season for so long, but things keep happening to stop me. It's almost like there's a curse on this season for me. At least in the sense that things keep popping up so I can't review episodes from this season.
But now I can review this episode and I am happy.
In this episode we get to see Stevie Nicks. What's so great about that? It's the fact that Misty has been shown to be obsessed with the singer, believes she's a witch, and so we've been hearing about Nicks all season long.
So I was very happy about her appearance this season.
We also get to have it revealed how Marie has been able to achieve immortality and that she's 300 years old. She made a deal with Philip Broyles...er...Papa Legba to do a favor for him each year so she will not die. In this episode she has to offer/kill a baby/an innocent soul, so many have concluded that it's the same thing every year.
Marie states in the episode that the offers become worse every year so she might not always have had to kill babies.
Whatever the case is, I think it's clear that Marie is no saint. However, that's true of every character on the show. Most people in the show will reach a point in which they will cross a line they never thought they would in the past.
Marie, at any time, could have said no to the deal and suffered the consequences. But she didn't and that makes her a bad character.
A big thing this season is who the next Supreme is. Who will take over once Fiona is out of the picture, in other words. The only real hint I remember hearing about it is that it's someone no one suspects. This week I'm going with Myrtle and I have seen a few others point out why that could work.
The thing against Myrtle being the Supreme before was that she's in the same generation as Fiona and the next Supreme would have to be from the next generation. However, Myrtle has risen up from the dead and there have been lines about how young she looks now.
So I take that to mean Myrtle could very well be the next Supreme.
Madison has been a bitch throughout this season. But it's always bordered on funny and why am I laughing. But this episode she's taken a real dark turn. She is obsessed with being the Supreme now and attempts to kill Misty.
I think Madison knows that she won't be able to kill Misty (what with the witch having brought herself back to life once), so she puts her into a situation that will be hard to get out of.
Nan, who has been innocent so far, murders a woman in cold blood in this episode. In all honesty the 'bitch had it coming' since the woman killed her son during the previous episode, killed the son's father before the season began, and made the son's life a living Hell. What set Nan into killing was the fact that the mother cremated her son so the witches wouldn't be able to resurrect him.
Oh, I forgot to mention that Nan was in love with the son.
This was a great start to the second half of this season. Hopefully it has as good of a finale as Asylum!

The Alien Subplot
By the end of this season I had a love/hate relationship for this particular subplot. At the beginning, though, I was firmly against it. American Horror Story should be about the supernatural horrors. Mind you, at the start of the season, I was still getting used to the fact that Season 1 has a completely different story and set of rules from Season 2. By the end I didn't hate the alien subplot, but I did find it unneeded. As someone pointed out: one of its purposes seemed to be bringing back dead characters. At the end of the season we aren't any closer to knowing who they are or what they want. Yes, the alien children are 'special' and do good things. But it still doesn't show the aliens' end game.
Lana Winters Goes Through Extreme Character Changes
Let me start off by saying I'm not against character development. It's good to see characters going through changes and being different at the end than they were at the beginning. HOWEVER, this doesn't mean all changes done to a character will be a good thing. Especially when there seems to be no reason to do so and the changes make no sense. I am referring to the change Lana goes through after she leaves Briarcliff. Sorry for the slight spoiler.
The Last Three Episodes
This season had its up and downs. But it did have a nice conclusion to all of it major plot lines and then there were two more episodes. To me the conflicts in the last two episodes were there to fill out two more episodes. Mind you I liked the outcome of what happened to the Son of Bloodyface, but some of the characters seemed to act out of character for the sake of conflict.
Final Thoughts
I think this season was much better put together than the first one. I especially like the fact that the finale actually felt like a finale. Not like that there were going to be more episodes. The highlight during this season was Lily Rabe's character of the possessed Sister Mary Eunice. I also like that a character I liked at the end I didn't see any way of liking during the beginning. The second season continued in the tradition of messed up stuff happening. So it is with that I warn those easily offended to not watch this. Oh, yeah, and I liked "The Name Game" music number which I can't see how people can't like it.
