Revere is a short prequel to Lacey Carter Andersen's Royal Fae Academy series. It introduces readers to Esmeray, Bron, Dwade, and Lucian who desire each other on a very primal level. Each of them have their own reasons for not acting on their baser instincts. But when Esmeray's three friends return home: can they really keep their hands off of each other?
As this book is extremely short, there isn't that much plot. Luckily there is enough shown about each character that it isn't a waste of time to read it. The most mysterious character by the end is Rayne, Esmeray's brother. The only thing we find out about him is that he is investigating some truth that would shake the foundations of Fae society. But what that truth is isn't stated in this book.
I've found that a lot of time when women are portrayed as independent, they're really annoying. Such as being angry for no reason but to show how tough they are. In this prequel Esmeray is an interesting character to follow. There are very good reasons for why she acts as she does. Even when she decides to be rebellious and go out on the town it's more than understandable why she does so. She is independent without being annoying.
This book shows that there's a difference between Faes which causes Bron, Dwade, and Lucian not to tell Esmeray what she means to them. What she is to them also causes them to not want to act on their feelings.
I would recommend Revere by Lacey Carter Anderson to those seeking a hot and short Reverse Harem book.
