Shipping Confessions: Tobias/Bruce Banner (Animorphs/The Avengers)

Well this is a new thing to be covered on Shipping Confessions. This is the first ever crossover ship covered in this series! Now crossover ships are not a new thing and there is a whole section on fanfiction.net for these types of fanfics. You just take characters from one or more series and then you put them together. Awhile back I wrote a post about how Tobias and Bruce Banner were similar. Well that connection between the two eventually lead me to shipping the pair.

I joked about shipping them and then I seriously started shipping them, proving that I can't do crackships (aka ships that you joke for fun but don't truly believe).

Animorphs is a series about six teenagers, one being an alien, trying to stop an alien invasion until backup can arrive. It's actually very dark and deep for a YA series.

The Avengers is a movie where superheroes team up to stop an alien invasion.

I will be talking about the non-canon pairing of Tobias (Animorphs) and Bruce Banner (The Avengers).
Tobias is a loner and was constantly being bullied before he became an Animorph. He thought his mother was dead and didn't know his father. He was being constantly shuffled between an abusive uncle and aunt. He didn't really have any friends.

Once he became an Animorph he was one of the biggest supporters for the war and even helped convince Jake to lead. Due to his human life of constantly being abused, he got himself stuck in red-tailed hawk morph. He eventually regretted his decision and it took a little bit for him to cope. Once he does cope, he is more than comfortable with being a hawk.

Before Tobias gets his morphing powers back, and even after, he is the team's scout. Before he gets his morphing power back he doesn't feel like a part of the team, especially when he gets to sit a bunch of missions out while his friends risk their lives.
Bruce Banner has an alternate ego called The Hulk. Bruce is a kind man and doesn't want to hurt anyone. His caring nature has him being a doctor as he flees from the US government who thinks they own him. He decides on being a doctor as he wants to make up for all the destruction he causes as The Hulk. He is generally quiet with a reserved personality and dry wit.

Bruce is a clever scientist who is called onto The Avengers team because of what he has done in the field of gamma radiation. Because of the fact that his superpower means him losing all control, he doesn't feel like a real member of the team. Him losing control could happen at any moment and he is more than a little afraid of accidentally hurting those he cares about.

However, there are a few that can look past his Hulk persona and see him as an actual human being. Those being Betty Ross, Tony Stark, and a little Steve Rogers on the side. With Avengers 2 coming up, I will probably be adding Natasha Romanov to that list.
Since Bruce and Tobias have no chance of actually interacting with each other, though an Animorphs and The Avengers crossover is just an all around awesome idea, they have no moments that they have actually shared any time together. So I'll be going with moments they could share together.

Both Tobias and Bruce feel like outsiders to their respective groups and so they could bond over that. Possibly even reminding each other why they're important. That Tobias' position as a scout is important and that Bruce's brains and brawn are both equally important.

They also both have to deal with another personality inside of them and they could comfort each other about that. Possibly Tobias and Bruce could talk about how both of them tried to commit suicide when their alternate personalities took over (in Tobias' case, when he made his first kill as a hawk).

And, as you may have noticed, this is an underage ship. But feel free to have Tobias around Bruce's age (either because the Animorphs got their powers later than in the book series or some dimension traveling has Tobias encountering Bruce when he's closer to the man's age). While I don't mind shipping underage ships, I understand why you wouldn't. This ship does need more love than it has currently gotten.

What will I talk about in the next Shipping Confessions? Next Shipping Confessions I will look at a budding S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
