Show: American Horror Story
Season: 1
Episodes: 12
Developed By: Robert Rodat
Released: 2011
Personal Rating: 2.5/5
Addictive Rating: 6/5
Basic Plot: The Harmons move into a house and shit goes down.
Young Moira
This is the reason I think some people (not me for sure) watched. While the Old Moira is wise, Young Moira is hot. Dressed in a French Maid outfit and...oh yeah. Her memorable scenes are short but...very relieving of stress. I am sad that she won't be in Season 2 (since each season will be a reboot). Er...not because she's drop dead gorgeous but because she's a very interesting character. With two great parts.
Too Many Questions
Holy fuck there are so many damn questions. You go through the good majority of the season not knowing what the hell is going on and then, by the end, it doesn't matter anyways. However, I was still watching it every week while asking myself why I was torturing myself. I must admit, though, by the end a good majority of questions were answered. I just wished there would've been more answers then questions throughout the entire season.
Tate and Violet
Tate and Violet have a great relationship throughout this season. Tate is a great character in that he's a murdering psychopath but has a very caring side. Violet is attracted to this and throughout all she learns about him she sticks by his side. The deal breaker, though, is when Violet finds out that Tate raped her mother. How their relationship goes after that is very realistic, though heartbreaking all the same. This is a very serious reason I don't want the cast for this season to be thrown away.
Final Thoughts
This is a horrible show that I can't stop watching. I really wish I could. I really wish I could walk away and not be into this show. A lot (read: 99.9%) depends a lot on shock value. In other words: for you to not know what's going on. This is okay when you're beginning but not answering questions is more annoying as time goes on. And the guy saying he didn't make rules for the ghosts? What the hell does that mean? So a final warning: Don't start to watch this series and save yourself! Once you start you can never stop!

Thir13en Ghosts (2001)
Title: Thir13en Ghosts
Director: Steve Beck
Type: Remake
Starring: Tony Shalhoub, Shannon Elizabeth, and Embeth Davidtz
Rated: R
Released: 2001
Personal Rating: 4.5/5
Horror Genre Rating: 3.5/5
B-Movie Genre Rating: Why do people think this is a b-movie?
Oscars: N/A
Basic Plot: A nephew inherits his Uncle's mansion and then gets sucked into a nightmare.
Substance Over Horror
There are a bunch of people saying that the graphics in this movie are good but they aren't scary. While it didn't make me run around screaming (or give me nightmares) it was a very unnerving experience all the same. This is helped by the graphics and how so much effort was put into the ghosts (aka, they aren't just crappy CGI). I can see how some horror veterans won't be that scared, but others should be able to have a great time.
The Thirteenth Ghost
Spoiler: The PETA-type woman was lying. You can guess that Arthur doesn't die (so he isn't the thirteenth ghost). I'm discussing this because on imdb's FAQ about the movie, this is the only question on it. Dennis Rafkin (the best character in the movie! ) is the thirteenth ghost. Dennis sacrificed himself for Arthur and so became the thirteenth ghost. This proves that the Thirteenth Ghost stopping the machine (aka Mansion) was a big lie set up by Arthur's Uncle.
Nudity and Gore
The Angry Princess is always nude and frightening. Well...would be if her knockers weren't so noticeable (but I'll let you find that out on your own). The gore in this movie is very blatant, but it is always used to set up the atmosphere and not for pure shock value. Let me clarify my point this way: the gore isn't there just to be gory. It's used to heighten the atmosphere. It doesn't go overboard in that sense. But those who don't like gore should probably take caution before viewing this film.
Final Thoughts
I highly enjoyed this movie. The acting was good and the ghosts were excellent. This was a great take on a haunted house film. The house wasn't haunted by accident, it was purposefully made to be haunted. And the coolest part? It was basically a machine of Satan himself! I would highly recommend this movie to those who want to see a different take on the haunted house genre.

The YouReviewers Awards are Coming in 2012
For those that don't know (and I don't want to know how many) a group of people on YouTube started their own versions of the Oscars. In their first year (this will be their second) they started off great with the voices of the common man (and not the stuck up Oscars people) being heard. They also managed to get some real celebrities (for some odd reason they never contacted me).
I was very glad when I heard the news that the YouReviewers Awards are now an annual thing. I really hope you will support this and spread the word about it.
It is a really awesome award show with some great hosts. They even have an ape (Mark from schmoesknow)!

Happy 2012 New Year
This is the year the world ends (December 22), the year The Avengers movie comes out, and the year I start to write my first fanfic in many years. I was glad of last year that I blogged and met my boyfriend (Brian/revrezner). Last night I spent my first New Years Eve with him. We spent the night with some of his friends and rank. That being said, I am recovering from last night.
Lots of people make New Years' Resolutions but I don't. I just have things I plan to do every year. This year I plan to continue reviewing all the Terminator movies, continuing my written series (S&N, The Green, and Sushi, Sake, and Tanuki), plus continuing my relationship with Brian.
I hope that everyone had a great night and recovers quickly from last night. And, if you do have New Years' Resolutions: What are they?
This day last year I moved over to this blog from my livejournal (acrazyraven).
