The Eternal Heart: False Hero

Note: This is a Terminator fanfic that combines a bunch of different timelines, twists them around, and so can't be said to follow any one certain timeline.
--------------------

I opened my eyes as I heard the sounds. The sounds were loud and threatining. Who was I? Where was I? When was it? As a machine attacked me I realized those were questions that could be answered later. Trying to get away from the attacking machine I realized there was a gun in my hand. I didn't know why I didn't notice it before. But, again, that didn't matter. What mattered was that I had a gun.

I aimed it as though I had used guns before. When I shot the machine I realized I must've previously attacked the same kind of machine that was after me. A Terminator. Yes, that was the name. It seemed familiar to me.

As a bullet went over my head I realized I would have to think about that later. I scored a solid hit on the Terminator and fluid burst out. I would've sworn it was red but the fluid changed colors. By the time it fell to the ground I couldn't remember what color it originally was.

As more Terminators attacked my memory came back. The fact that the blood was pumping quickly through my veins must've helped me to remember. My name was Jash and I was a Resistance Fighter.

As my memory came back I was able to kill the metal, a nickname for the Terminators, easier. When I killed them I heard them scream and curse me. Why would metal do those things? Besides, they were the invaders. They were the foot soldiers of Skynet and wouldn't think twice about killing me or any human.

The sounds of battle finally drew to a close. When they were fully gone, it felt eerie. I walked over to one of the Terminators and recalled that his name was Martin Bedell. How did I know that? I nearly laughed when I realized that the Terminator was wearing a nametag with its name on it.

"Just because you have a name doesn't mean I give a shit about you." I said and spit on it. "I am Jash of the Resistance Against Skynet. And I will never surrender my humanity to you."

* * *

"Chug! Chug! Chug!" My comrades said. It didn't matter which one. All of us were pretty drunk now and probably wouldn't remember tonight in the morning. Doing what they wanted me to, I chugged down another mug of beer. They cheered louder and the drinking continuned.

Was the battle I was just in really that big? I didn't think so. It seemed more like a test than a battle. And definitely not something that a leader would allow soldiers should to get drunk for. Being in the state I was in now would make me less able to fight the metal. Turning to look at two of my female comrades, I saw them in a deep passionate kiss. Nothing stirred in me, but the men were starring.

This was odd. These were soldiers. Two women turning lesbian because of alcohol wasn't anything to worry about. But trained soldiers acting like schoolboys wasn't normal. Or was it? Couldn't I allow the soldiers, that were risking their lives, a little slack? No. No I couldn't.

As I started to walk over to them I stumbled and fell. The room erupted in laughter. "Fuck." I cursed under my breath. After a few minutes I was able to get myself back up. It seemed the party had died down quickly.

I felt a little strange and started going towards the sick bay. Probably just drunk, but I had to make sure.

After I stumbled into the sick bay, a doctor helped me to a table. This particular base didn't have a real sick bay.

"Seems like you got banged up bad." The doctor said in a comforting voice. But while his voice was kind, his face gave off no emotion. As he started to inspect me I saw him get some disinfectent. Probably homemade since it was better to do that. That was because if there was ever a shortage, you'd better save the best for the worst incidents. "So you just came back from that battle?"

"No." I said. What was up with this guy? "I got a little too drunk at the party tonight. I think it was to celebrate the battle."

"The party?" The doctor asked. "Oh, yeah, that. Yes, that's what the wounds are from. Forgot what can happen in parties."

"Don't you go to any?" I asked.

"Not often." He said, but I could tell he was lying. He didn't go to any. While that was, in itself, not suspicious. It seemed to mean something that he didn't know about the party.

0000

I saw a field of nothing but sheep. Everywhere I looked there were sheep. One of the sheep closet to me had no wool on one side. Instead it was pure coltan like a Terminator. It noticed the attetion I was giving it and it just looked at me. Then it ran at me and I woke up suddenly.

I saw I was still in my room and that there were no man killing Terminator sheep. Nope. Just regualr killer robots. A second after waking up, I heard a knock on my door. I sighed and opened the door. One of my comrades was outside.

"What is it? I'm still waiting for my hangover to go away." I said angrily. Though I didn't know if it was a hangover. But those thoughts could wait.

"I can't tell you." He replied. "Only once the special group is gathered can I tell you. There can be no chance that someone outside of the special group will hear it."

* * *

The debriefing had been earlier and now things were actually going to happen. I was a little nervous as I hadn't gone into battle before. No, that couldn't be true. Must be because going into battle was so scary to me that my memory erased those moments.

"You feeling alright, Jash?" One of my comrades asked me. I couldn't remember his rank and he wasn't wearing any identification. And why should he? This mission was one of infiltration. We were going to pretend to be Greys, traitors to humanity, and destroy one of Skynet's bases.

"Yeah," I replied. "Just don't like the waiting."

"That's the majority of war." The words made him sound like he was making a joke, but there was no inflection to his voice.

Finally the boarding was happening. There were four trucks and I went to drive one. Me being a driver must mean that they trusted me not to panic. Especially in the situation we'd be getting ourselves into.

The comrade that was sitting beside me wasn't familiar but that didn't matter. We were all fighting the same enemy. Betrayals wouldn't happen until after the war, most likely.

After a few minutes I drove behind the third truck and the mission truly started.

As I drove I was still able to think about things other than my surroundings. This was because I had others in the truck with me and was aware enough to notice anything attacking the convoy.

What I decided to think about was a strange choice. It was something I was told during the debriefing. That I was to show no mercy to the Terminators. Also, that they could make themselves appear human. Though they were only in the beginning stages of the Infiltration Series.

Of course I wouldn't show any mercy to a Terminator! Even if it had human skin. The thought of a Terminator, a large chunk of lifeless metal, pretending to be human made me clutch the stearing wheel tightly. The comrade sitting beside me looked at me so I lessened my grip on the steering wheel.

"Just preparing myself." I told her and she went back to making sure nothing was about to attack us.

What if she was a Terminator? No, couldn't be. Her skin was too human to be a Terminator. Her expression had been odd but that didn't mean anything. We were going into battle and so acting weird wasn't a warning. At least not to me.

We finally got to the base where a Grey was waiting to greet us. Well, that's how the plan was supposed to go. Since I was the last truck in the convoy, I watched the Resistance Fighters in the first truck deal with the guard.

But the guard didn't let us in. Instead he tried to shout before being shot. Then all of us headed quickly into the base. We had a mission to do.

Even in the first few minutes of this mission there was enough bloodshed of Greys and Terminators to fill me for a lifetime. Half-way through the massacre, that's what I considered it, I forgot what the mission had originally been. Hell, I didn't know what it was now. The only thought going through my mind was to kill.

* * *

I shouldn't be blamed for what I was doing now. No one would blame me, but I blamed myself now. Running away from battle felt terrible. My right arm was injured and wouldn't allow me to shoot with any aim. I had shot some of my own men when I had tried.

Why was I running? There weren't any vehicles to get. It would take too much time to get one running. The terrain was good for hiding, as fate would have it. Not too good, Judgment Day had taken a number on Earth. I hid behind a boulder and killed the two that were pursuing me.

Well, that's what I would tell my superiors. Instead, I shot their kneecaps and continued to run. It would be a few miles before I could slow down. But I would reach base. I would make sure of it.

* * *

I had gotten back to my current base hours ago. The doctor had looked over me and I had rested. I didn't have any duties to perform so I started to explore. There were parts of the base that were off limits for some reason. A more obedient soldier than I would've left those areas alone. But I was curious.

Finding a lock door I picked it. It was surprisingly difficult. It lead to a 'hidden' area but the lock seemed odd. No matter, I got it unlocked and then opened it. Walking a few feet I saw a symbol on the walls.

On the left side it was easier to make out than the same one on the right side. The symbol was of a triangle. Two triangles and one diamond that made one big triangle. The symbol for Cyberdyne which was the company that had made Skynet.

They just had to be random sketchings on the wall. Just had to be. Even if they weren't, the Resistance was hiding out in a former Skynet base. No problem there. Right? As I reached the end of the hallway I entered a room that destroyed all doubts.

I leaned against a wall in shock at what I was seeing. I now knew that I had been fighting on the wrong side all along.

The room I was in was a factory. But not of anything useful to the Resistance. Right in front of my eyes Terminators were being made.

But how was it possible that I had been fighting for Skynet and not have known what I was doing? Could brainwashing really be that good of a tool?

Before I could think of anything more, something hit the back of my head and all was black.

"Jash!" A loud and angry voice shouted in my ear. I opened my eyes and saw a commander looking me dead in the eyes. His look was something that I shouldn't have seen, especially after first waking up. I quickly stood up.

"What is it?" I asked. I would've been more polite had I not remembered what I had seen last night. But what had I seen? "Terminator Factory."

"Your one of those nuts?" The Commander asked. I hadn't meant to say 'Terminator Factory' out loud but I had. And now the enemy would know. "Somehow all the people who just get assigned to Base 42 think Terminators are still made here. It's been years since the factory has been working."

"Then why is it off limits?"

"Because a Grey could build a Terminator and then we'd all be dead here." He explained. "And if it is running, which it couldn't possibly be, then it would be because of a Grey. Not because of any of us in command."

"I have proof." I said, turned around, and lifted up my hair. "Someone, or something, knocked me out by hitting the back of my head."

The Commander looked for a few minutes and then replied, "There's no mark on the back of your head. You must have fallen asleep while on patrol."

"I didn't have patrol last night." I said.

The Commander shook his head. "You did. That's why I was looking for you."

"What do you want me to do, Sir?" I asked. I was afraid of a possible punishment.

"Since you're well rested now, go get something to eat and go out on patrol." He commanded. "Go five miles out and circle the base a few times. Those who actually took their patrolling duties seriously thinks there might be intruders coming."

I wanted to ask why me but figured it wouldn't be a good idea. I had a bad dream and annoyed a commander. I looked around and saw that I had been sleeping on the roof of Base 42.

As I went to the mess hall I thought that it was highly likely that what I had seen was a dream. When I sat down and started to eat my food I remembered some of my comrades telling me about this being an old Cyberdyne Building. Though, somehow, that memory seemed to be new. It did occur a few weeks back, but it seemed as though it was from a few hours ago.

So had I just dreamt it all? I guess the answer would be yes. How hard the Terminator, or Grey, had hurt me would leave a mark. I rubbed the back of my head and felt nothing. But the dream had felt so real.

After I finished eating I headed out to patrol duty. It was boring for the first hour or so. Finally there was some action. As the two people came closer I tried to identify them.

One had long dark hair and large lips. It looked like a million bees had stung them. However, I could see a beauty and strength in her movements. The other person had blond hair, normal sized lips, and a good pair of titties. Those things weren't huge, but still bigger than normal.

When they got close they pointed their guns at me and I put my finger on the trigger to my own.

"Who are you?" I asked them.

The one with the large lips replied, "Commander Jesse Flores and," Jesse pointed to the other one with her eyes. "Riley Dawson."

I thought about those names. I suddenly remembered them as Greys. I aimed at Jesse but Riley stepped in the way. While Jesse seemed to be a sinner, Riley appeared innocent. She must have fought and killed, but there was still innocence in her.

"Put the gun down, metal." Jesse said and Riley stayed where she was. I put my gun down slowly and stood back up.

Looking at Riley I noticed that she was wearing a type of armor underneath her clothing. There was a slight bulge that I hadn't noticed before. It had been a trap.

The Adventures of Tintin (2011)

Title: The Adventures of Tintin

Based on the Comic Book Series: The Adventures of Tintin

Director: Steven Spielberg

Starring: Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, and Daniel Craig

Rated: PG

Released: 2011

Personal Rating: 4.5/5

Oscars: Nominated for 1

Basic Plot: Intrepid reporter Tintin and Captain Haddock set off on a treasure hunt for a sunken ship commanded by Haddock's ancestor.

The Graphics
The graphics in this movie are VERY well done. From the characters, to surroundings, and everything else. I liked the fact that, in the very beginning of the movie, they showed how Tintin originally looked in the comics. They did this without even making it look odd. You can tell that time was spent on the graphics used in this movie.

Scharlaken Rackham
This character is just AWESOME! The evilness drips from every inch of this character. From the first time you meet him you know he's no good. And his villain does seem evil to my adult mind. Daniel Craig does an excellent job in this role. In no way do you feel pity for Scharlaken. And, at the same time, you savor every moment he's on screen. He's one of those villains you just love to hate.

3D Version
I did not see this in 3D. However, on the IMDB Trivia page (for this movie) it showed that Steven Spielberg did spend time on the 3D. aka It wasn't Post-Production 3D. However, I can't tell if the end product is good.

Final Thoughts
This is a great movie and I agree that it was snubbed in this year's Oscars. There were so many good performances and the story telling was outstanding. I haven't read the original comics so I can't say how this compares to them. But the movie is still enjoyable. I would highly recommend you go out and see this movie.

This Means War (2012)

Title: This Means War

Director: McG

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, and Tom Hardy

Rated: PG-13

Released: 2012

Personal Rating: 3/5

Oscars: N/A

Was Better Than I Expected
I was worried that this movie would suck. However, it didn't make me cringe throughout the majority of the movie. Chris Pine was awesome in his role. The cocky, woman-hungry man is a good character for him to play. I can see why people think that the revenge sub-plot is unneeded. I know I wouldn't miss it being removed from this film.

Who Reese Witherspoon Chooses
Is VERY predictable. Yeah, Chris Pine. This is perfect for Tom Hardy who gets back to his wife. Though the reason for her coming back to Hardy is because banging a secret agent is SEXY. And Witherspoon choosing ANY of them just didn't make that much sense.

Final Thoughts
There is not much to say about this movie. It is good but unimpressive. I would say you should wait for this movie to come onto DVD to see it. You don't need to go to the movie theater.

Prometheus Trailer

I usually don't care about movies coming out. But this is one of the rare ones.

I like the Alien series. The Xenomorphs are cool in any stage of development. So when I first heard about Prometheus (before any of the trailers started coming out) I was interested. Now I am full blown obsessed with seeing this movie.

I finally saw this trailer in theaters and was at the edge of my seat. It was my favorite part of the movie me, Brian, and Jessica saw that day!

Hopefully Ridley Scott will not disappoint.

The Thing (2011)

Title: The Thing

Series: The Thing

Director: Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.

Starring: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, and Ulrich Thomsen

Rated: R

Released: 2011

Personal Rating: 4/5

Oscars: None

Basic Plot: At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson.

The Prequel Vs. The Original
I LOVE John Carpenter's The Thing. It is one of the VERY few horror movies that scared me. This prequel scared me, but in a different way. The original was fueled by paranoia and there was hardly any action (the fighting kind of action, at least). The prequel has much more action than the original. I love both movies, but the original is better than the prequel. This isn't to say to not see the prequel. It is a good movie on its own merits.

The Alien Ship
This was, by far, one of the best parts of the movie. Seeing the alien ship was just a 'wow' moment. Unfortunately, the 'Tetris version' was the one released for theaters. Reading about the 'Pilot version' made me wish I could see that version of the ship. The tetris thing made no fucking sense. I was actually waiting for Daftpunk to start playing. However, the action that happens there is enough to make up for that one moment.

Appearance of The Thing
The Thing is shown to look awesome! People have complained about it appearing too much (but I go with the group that points out The Thing has just woken up) but the look is good. However, going with less CGI would've been better. There are lots of points where it looks like The Thing is from a video game (specifically Dead Space).

Final Thoughts
One of the main questions that people asked (myself included) was if this was a remake or a prequel. Even after the question was answered, people were still asking. There should've been a subtitle for this. Hell, The Thing: THIS IS NOT A REMAKE would've worked. I like this movie. Even though it isn't as good as the original, that's no reason to hate it.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Finale (Sneak Peek)

On this week's episode ("Better Angels") the ending was...I'm going to quote Chris Hardwick (from The Talking Dead) here: we're all going to need a lot of therapy.

So, of course, what happens in the finale next week is making me wish for time travel.

We're going to have to deal with the fact that now you don't need to be bitten to be turned into a zombie (which is the same as the comics). So ANYONE who dies can become a zombie.

What are you looking forward to in the finale?

Here is the trailer for next week's episode:

Proposal

Yes, I am engaged to revrezner (also called Brian and Biggy). This happened New Year's (2012).

I met Brian on an online dating site. I had gone out with 2-3 people from that site and none got a second date. Brian, as can be seen, was different.

If you're wondering, we don't have a date set yet for the wedding. We both want to get our own place before we marry.

Literary Cesnorship By A Surprising Source

I am against the censorship of anything, especially classic pieces of literature. Pieces that are usually censored because people misunderstand the book's point.

I took the books below from THIS LIST:
Books have been banned because of people thinking that children will become unable to tell the difference between fantasy and reality (Bridge to Terabithia and Harry Potter series). Also because of profanity (The Color Purple and To Kill a Mockingbird).

But I'm not making this post about another book being banned. It's the fact that PayPal is now censoring where it takes money from. PayPal is supposed to be NEUTRAL. Their whole point is the transfer of money.

I agree that their idea of removing 'bad things' is a good goal. But it doesn't work in reality. As classic literature does have incest, rape, ect. but the books give a message. In which one or more unlikable things becomes necessary to tell the story.

Mind you, I'm not talking smut. I believe it shouldn't be censored, but it is NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE to classic literature. 'Cause, you know, it's smut.

Is College Neccesary?

First off, being educated is a must. I don't want idiots walking around. But do you have to go to college/university to stop being an idiot and get a good paying job?

Here's the funny thing: Most college graduates don't have jobs and are in debt. Serious debt from Student Loans.

I graduated from college with an English Degree in Creative Writing from Saint Leo, University (in 2009). Luckily I didn't have to take out any student loans because my parents had money stored up for me to use for college. However, I went to a community college my final semester because the money was running VERY low (I only had to do electives so I didn't need to take them at Saint Leo, had the credits transferred).

So with these facts: Going to college would not help ANYONE that's having financial trouble. Even if you do graduate, there will still be debt.

Of course, depending on your degree you may have a better chance of getting a good job.

If you're wondering: I've been job hunting for two years. You may now commence Jobless English Major jokes.

The Andromeda Strain: Oh, God, Why?

I will hopefully cover The Andromeda Strain (2008) in an actual review. Watching it will be a pain, however.

I am a big Michael Crichton fan and have loved every book of his I have read (not counting Pirate Latitudes) and have read the original novel The Andromeda Strain. The fact that Crichton was a doctor really helps sell this novel.

The 1971 movie adaption stayed very true to the source material.

However, I have heard of a 2008 re-imaging/remake that came out as a mini-series on A&E. The thing with remakes is that you walk a very fine line. Especially when the original source material is so well loved. The tone of the original movie and source material was very slow and scientific.

Here is the trailer for the mini-series:

As you can see, the tone is DRASTICALLY different. They seem to go more action heavy. Reading the plot synopsis I had to pause every few seconds to not lash out in rage. They added: government conspiracy, Andromeda is a virus from the future, a wormhole, and some other things.

They make a simple story so convoluted. The focus of the original movie and novel was the Andromeda Strain itself. I think changes on updating the equipment and such would be okay. But I don't feel that the story should've become so convoluted.

I plan to see this mini-series in the future and review it.

Hugo (2011)

Title: Hugo

Director: Martin Scorsese

Starring: Asa Butterfield, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Christopher Lee

Rated: PG

Released: 2011

Personal Rating: 3/5

Oscars: 5

Basic Plot: Set in 1930s Paris, an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station is wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton.

The Visuals
The visuals in this movie are amazing. I only saw this in 2D (at home) and so can't comment on the 3D. One of the most persistent 'visuals' was the drawing of a spaceship crashing into the eye of the moon (the moon was drawn with a man's face on it). This image keeps on reappearing in different ways and it never seems out of place! Besides that, this is just a visual wonder.

The Story Isn't Engaging
I didn't find this story engaging. It was an interesting mystery but I thought that the resolution didn't make sense. It turns out that a famous film director was forgotten so he went into hiding because of shame. I think I was meant to care for this character's plight, but I didn't. Hugo's own plights, however, were a little more interesting.

Movies Are Awesome
One of the things that made me get annoyed was the message 'movies are great, movies are awesome' being repeated all throughout the movie. I know movies are awesome! I'm watching this, aren't I? I don't think this message will attract new moviegoers, but give old moviegoers a sense of nostalgia. The only good thing about this message is that it connects to the main plot.

Final Thoughts
This movie was meh. I agree that it deserved its awards, but it didn't wow me. I really wish I could like this movie more than I did. I was even feeling VERY sick that night (which usually makes films more enjoyable to me). The visuals and acting are the high points of this film.

The Eternal Heart: False Hero 2

Note:This is a Terminator fanfic that combines a bunch of different timelines, twists them around, and so can't be said to follow any one certain timeline.

"Chug! Chug! Chug!" My comrades said. It didn't matter which one. All of us were pretty drunk now and probably wouldn't remember tonight in the morning. Doing what they wanted me to, I chugged down another mug of beer. They cheered louder and the drinking continued.

As he started to inspect me I saw him get some disinfectant.

* * *

I saw a field of nothing but sheep. Everywhere I looked there were sheep. One of the sheep closet to me had no wool on one side. Instead it was pure coltan like a Terminator. It noticed the attention I was giving it and it just looked at me. Then it ran at me and I woke up suddenly.

I saw I was still in my room and that there were no man killing Terminator sheep. Nope. Just regular killer robots.

Mars Needs Moms (2011)

Title: Mars Needs Moms

Director: Simon Wells

Starring: Seth Green, Joan Cusack, and Dan Fogler

Rated: PG

Released: 2011

Personal Rating: 1.5/5

Oscars: Do You Really Think This Turd Of A Movie Would Even Be Nominated (don't you dare use Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon as an example) ?!

Basic Plot: A young boy named Milo gains a deeper appreciation for his mom after Martians come to Earth to take her away.

Graphics Are Awesome
The one good thing about this movie is the graphics. They are breathtaking. I thought the aliens looked cool (though Ki got tons of butt shots). It's just bad that these good graphics are wasted on this film.

Unlikable Characters
One thing about movies is that they should have at least ONE likable character. Is that too hard to do? Apparently it is for this movie. I admit I'm biased AGAINST children in fiction, but Milo took the cake. Not even two seconds of his first screen appearance and I wanted to kill him. Gribble seemed like I would like him. But after a few minutes that hope was quickly dashed. Let me just note that likable isn't the same as good/virtuous.

Martians Are Now Hippies
The footage from Earth that Ki got were of the Flower Power/'60s. This means that we got one character speaking in an annoying manner. Not as a joke, but thinking that's how humans speak. While that annoyance could be overlooked by the end, how this affects the other Martians can't. Ki helps them take tips from the footage she saw. So now Martians are the new Hippies.

Final Thoughts
There are so many unanswered questions. Such as: Why can't the Martians breathe their own air? Why does the Martian Society at the start of the film have such a shitty back story? Why am I asking these questions? I hate this film! There are so many cliches in this movie. I'm not saying movies have to be original, but they at least have to step away from using every cliche in the book. Maybe if some of the characters were likable I could stand this. But we'll never know the answer to that question.

Pretty Little Liars "Father Knows Best" Review

I give a short review of the Pretty Little Liars episode "Father Knows Best".

11/22/63 (Stephen King)

Title: 11/22/63

Author: Stephen King

Released: 2011

Rating: 5/5

Basic Plot: Jake Epping goes back in time to try and stop the Kennedy Assassination.

How The Book Deals with Time Travel
I love time travel. It's one reason I love the Terminator franchise. You can handle time travel in many different ways, so I was excited to see how King handled it. Let me just say that it was a great portrayal of time travel. The dangers that are inherent in King's version of time traveling can create chaos (even if the person time traveling has the best of intentions).

The Romance
I'm not going to be talking about Sadie's ex-husband in this part, if you were wondering. I'm talking about how the romance with Sadie affects Jake's decisions he makes. I think if there wasn't a romance with Sadie his choice at the end of the novel wouldn't have been as difficult.

Historical Fiction
This might sound strange: but even though this novel involves time travel, it is a historical novel. The good majority of the novel focuses on the 'Land of Ago' (aka The Past). While this could be boring, what Jake encounters is more than enough to make up for it.

Final Thoughts
I love Stephen King. And was overjoyed that Jake Epping (the main character) was able to use the fact that he's an English Teacher to his advantage while visiting the past. King's son (also a writer) did a good job at telling King to use a different ending. Which I think helps the book. This book does involve sex and violence. But those used to King's writings will already be used to that. Nothing was too extreme for me.

The Walking Dead "18 Miles Out" Review

I give a short review of The Walking Dead episode "18 Miles Out".

A lot of people are mad that The Iron Lady won for Best Makeup, as opposed to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. What're your own thoughts on this?

I think Harry Potter should have won for that. While The Iron Lady seemed to do a good job. HP had to create a whole world and it did that EXTREMELY well!

Ask me anything

The Eternal Heart: False Hero 1

Note:This is a Terminator fanfic that combines a bunch of different timelines, twists them around, and so can't be said to follow any one certain timeline.

I opened my eyes as I heard the sounds. The sounds were loud and threatening.

I nearly laughed when I realized that the Terminator was wearing a dog tag with its name on it.

"Just because you have a name doesn't mean I give a shit about you." I said and spit on it. "I am Jash of the Resistance Against Skynet. And I will never surrender my humanity to you."

The Green: Remnants and Spreading

I give a brief synopsis of The Green: Remnants and give a preview of the next section.

The Green: Remnants (complete)

I was driving and Plague was asleep beside me. I was new to driving, or at least I didn't have any memories about it from before the lab, and so I was concentrating very hard on the road. Plague had already driven a lot on our mission and so I had decided to practice while he slept. I liked that he trusted me with his life.

I had trusted him with something much more valuable last night. I had come out of the shower when I saw Plague lying on the bed. It wasn't a fancy bed by any means, just a cheap motel one. I wasn't surprised, though, our relationship had been growing. He was taking things at my speed, which was faster than it was slow.

Nodding my agreement, Plague took me through my first sexual experience. Well, my first that I could remember. The enjoyment I got to being so close to Plague was exhilarating. However, the physical feelings that I experienced were not as enjoyable. He was kind enough not to do anything too rough or extreme.

By the end of the night I had grown comfortable with gay sex. It was enjoyable but, somehow, lacking in an area I couldn't figure out. Plague and I had a conversation afterwards and he reassured me that it wasn't unusual for virgins to be frightened. I then realized I would have much more time to grow closer to my lover. And I wanted to grow as close to Plague as I could in every area.

I shook my head and concentrated on the road. I, Matthias, didn't have time to think about Plague right now. Making sure I didn't crash was much more of a concern. Finally the gas station was in sight and I pulled up.

The only one that paid any attention to me was a bum. I got out of the car and started to pump gas. All throughout this the bum just continued to look at me. It was uncomfortable to have such a gaze thrown at me. While Plague did sometimes stare at me, it was full of adoration. The bum's gaze, however, was judgmental and ready for a fight.

After I filled the car up I walked to the bum. I was scared for my life and didn't know if Plague could wake up in time to save me. But, on the other hand, he had trained me to fight. I was a beginner, but could hold my ground.

When I approached the bum I gave him a signal. It was made up of sounds and gestures. The combinations wouldn't make sense to a random person watching. It would just seem like I was yelling at the bum.

The bum looked at me closely and nodded. He told me a location in Sante Kol, New Mexico where the people we were looking for were located.

I walked to the car, got in, and started to drive to the location that the agent had given me. Though I'd always think of him as a bum.
-----
Sante Kol, New Mexico was a little hard to find. But Plague and I were finally able to find it. The small neighborhood had a foreboding atmosphere. As Plague was now driving, I was free to worry. Worry that I would get Plague hurt because of my stupidity.

Upon driving up the house's driveway, I put my gun into my hand. Mine was small and not all that powerful. That was okay by me since it meant that if I messed up I wouldn't kill Plague. I got out and turned to see Plague hold his own gun. Much more powerful but also controlled by trained hands.

Nodding to each other we walked quickly to the front door. Though my feet's movements were quick, it felt like time slowed down and sped up at the same time. I wasn't ready for an attack at this time. But the mission had to be obeyed. If not, I would never find out the secrets of Gralg.

When we were a foot away from the door a gun shot was fired. I froze and then I fired my first shot. With that one shot my worries slipped away. Other shots followed and then I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"You were good, Matthias." Plague's voice said and I turned to see a smile on his face. Looking around the room I saw that the people were merely injured and not dead.

"How many of those were mine?" I asked.

"Enough." He said. I didn't know if that was a bad or good thing. "Now help me make sure that they don't die."

The people we 'helped' didn't seem happy about it. The faces I looked at were either scared, angry, or a combination of both. When we were done, we tied them up.

After a minute I was finally able to calm down enough to inspect myself. I couldn't find any wounds on myself.

"Are you okay, Plague?" I asked. I was more worried about him than myself.

"Not a scratch." He replied and smiled at me.

"What do we do now?"

"You stay here, watch over these people, and wait until I return."

"Return?" I asked.

"I need to search the whole house." Plague explained. "Besides, I know what to look for better than you."

"Fine." I said and shrugged.

He put his hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, you'll get your turn."

I put on a small smile and he left.

A few seconds after Plague left one of the men asked, "What's happening, John?"

My name wasn't John, but that man was speaking to me.

"What did you call me?" I asked the man.

"John." The main repeated.

I shook my head. "My name is Matthias."

"Dammit, John, Henry must have done something to you." He said. "Your father is Henry Johnson. My name is George Hunder."

I sat by him, making sure that my guard wasn't lowered. It was impossible to know if George was telling the truth. His ass, along with his group, had been kicked. Plague and I had entered with hardly any resistance. I was simple minded, yes, and didn't have all of my memory. This made using the promise of knowing my past a good strategy.

I thought for a moment. Only Makija and the scientists at the lab would know about that. I was sure my impact upon everyday life wasn't great at all.

"Were we friends?" I asked George. If he said yes it would make believing him nearly impossible. Of course he would want me to think that he had been my friend. A friend would let him escape. I, not knowing him, wouldn't.

George shook his head. "We knew each other, but we were never friends." He looked me in the eyes. "I couldn't get that close to you because of your father."

"What was wrong with my father?"

"He was controlling you and you were scared." He looked around the room at his comrades and then turned his attention back to me. "You were the son of a scientist and all you were allowed to be was a janitor. Know what the worst part was?"

I shook my head and George replied, "He must've been doing things to you for years. The last day I saw you, you looked horrible. After that, it was impossible to find you." He laughed. "Hell, even finding your father became impossible."

"What was John like?" I asked.

"He was a good man. I hardly know more than that." George said. "And that's all I need to know."

I heard footsteps and pointed my gun at Plague.

"Jumpy?" He asked with a smile.

"Yeah," I replied. "Jumpy."

Plague took a second look at my face. "Are you okay, Matthias?" He asked and then looked at George. George became completely still as he realized Plague was who he had to be worried about. I wasn't much, but Plague could cause serious damage when he wanted to.

"Someone causing you problems?" When Plague said 'someone' he looked at George to show who he was talking about.

I shook my head. "He wasn't harassing me or anything."

"Bullshit." Plague said. "So what's your name?"

"George Hunder." George replied.

"So, George, what are you doing here? We tracked a Gralg tip here."

"We were experimenting with Gralg. That is true."

"Even though you knew it is illegal?"

"What does it do? Why did it become illegal?" I asked. I realized that this could be one of the few chances I would get an answer to the question.

"The side effects." George started. "For most people it makes them rage instantly upon it being put into their mouths. There are a few that don't get that reaction but, instead, get the intended reaction. The intended reaction is helping the mentally disabled become like everyone else."

"So you were experimenting to make it better?" Plague asked.

George shook his head. "I knew that it wouldn't become legal anytime soon and...there was someone who needed Gralg." He paused for a moment. I assumed he wasn't lying due to the sadness in his eyes. "I, and my group, were experimenting to be able to hide it better. We were trying to make it into a plant. Unfortunately some escaped. We don't know when or how. Well, at least the exact time."

Plague crossed his arms and turned to me. He was making me part of the decision process. Even though I was untrained he was giving me a chance.

"He does have someone." I said to Plague.

"But he started an outbreak of Gralg." Plague turned to George. "I'm going to call the police but I'll tell them to go light on you for Matthias' sake."

I was going to say 'Thank You' but I realized that wouldn't be good. I thought he knew what George had told me. Or at least that George knew who I really was.

Plague left the room to call the police. I was left alone with George and his group. Unlike the last time, there was no talking. The police came and took George and his group. Plague stood by me.

"Don't worry," He said. "We'll figure out this Gralg business and then you can find out who you are."

I nodded. John Johnson. That was my real name. If George was telling the truth.

Chronicle (2012)

Title: Chronicle

Director: Josh Trank

Starring: Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell, and Michael B. Jordan

Rated: PG-13

Released: 2012

Personal Rating: 4.5/5

Oscars: N/A

Basic Plot: Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.

Compared to Other Found Footage Movies
I am not a big found footage movie sort of person. I tend to not see them that often. The one I can remember the most is The Blair Witch Project which sucked major ass. But that is a rant for another day. So when I found out that it was a found footage movie I was a little nervous. However, the many positive reviews calmed any fears I had. I agree with the reviewers who said that Chronicle is a found footage movie that people who don't like the sub-genre will like.

A New Look at the "Super Hero" Genre
Many super hero movies are about a person getting a super power(s) and then deciding to do good. That is not the case in Chronicle, however. And it works! These are three teenagers and, of course, their minds wouldn't go towards saving the world. Steve is going to be a politician, Matt is just a guy, and Andrew is abused by his father. So each one handles his own powers differently.

The Apex Streetlight
The final fight scene is great. However, there is one part that made me go: WTF?! Earlier in the film Andrew called himself the apex predator (apex predator is at the top of the food chain) and believes he's the strongest of the three. So in the final fight scene there is a point where Andrew crashes into a streetlight and then falls down. He then doesn't move for a minute or so.

Final Thoughts
Near the end of this movie I was squeezing revrezner's hand because I was so into the movie. People who want to see a good super villain movie should see this. You pity Andrew and yet know he is wrong. I fully agreed with Andrew throughout the movie but not the extremes he went to. So what happens at the end made me sad for hours afterwards. This is just my personal theater experience: one guy started saying rude comments during the epilogue so I wasn't able to fully hear what was said then.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)

Title: Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Director: Rupert Wyatt

Starring: James Franco, Andy Serkis, and Freida Pinto

Rated: PG-13

Released: 2011

Personal Rating: 4.5/5

Oscars: Nominated for 1

Basic Plot: Eight years of being raised by humans and now left behind in an abusive sanctuary, a hyper-intelligent chimpanzee will lead a revolution of apes towards freedom from man's torturous exploitation.

What Makes One Human
I guess I should've said: What Makes One Deserving of Freedom and Respect? Through Caesar, we get to see a "human's" view of being in a world where the dominant species (humans) have full control over you and don't respect you. I think a good portion of this movie being shown through Caesar's was a big help. Without Caesar you wouldn't have the theme of the movie being as clear.

The CGI
The CGI (especially the apes) were done fantastically. The apes looked very realistic and you would swear they were real. Andy Serkis' acting added life to Caesar. But without the CGI being so good it wouldn't have mattered.

The Cure
James Franco's character starts making The Cure (which is the same title of a YA science fiction novel, which I'm probably the only one who noticed) which makes apes smarter but is deadly to humans. The way The Cure is spread over the world is HIGHLY believable. And scarily plausible.

Final Thoughts
I have not seen any of the previous films in the series (though I have viewed parts of the original). So, with that in mind, this is a very well done film. Tom Felton's death was a little creepy but deserved. It also shows a believable way of how apes could take over the Earth. It was very enjoyable to sit through.

The Green: Remnants 1

Themes of Love and Revenge
This movie runs on love and revenge. The actions of the protagonist (who is the villain in this movie), Robert Ledgard, are rooted deeply in his feelings of love and revenge. One example of this (that won't spoil the movie for you) is that the face he gave Vera (his patient) was his wife's face. While this is disturbing, it is a show of love.

The Cinematography
Each shot of this movie is beautiful in its design. Each shot moves you and draws you in. Yes, acting is important, but how a film looks helps improve the experience. The music helps (and one song in particular proves to be of importance) and makes the viewing experience delightful.

WTF is Going On
I feel this should be addressed since this isn't a movie for everyone. This movie is VERY disturbing. Once the twist happens it gets VERY VERY DISTURBING. While I love this movie, I would say that if you are young (under 18) and/or conservative in political views and/or religious views (like Catholics) you probably won't enjoy this film. I don't want to turn people away from this movie, but it does deal with matters that some people might find VERY offensive.

Final Thoughts
This movie rocks! At the end of it I felt like I could hardly breathe since I was so full of emotions. I was both horrified and delighted about it. It is a great combination of horror, thriller, and science fiction. I have not seen such a good movie in a long LONG time. It is a foreign film, and subtitled, but that shouldn't matter to someone looking for a masterpiece.
