The Hunt Has a New Release Date

The Hunt, no not the one with Mads Mikkelsen, is about elite liberals hunting conservatives for sport. Due to the controversy around the film Universal decided not to release it on September 27, 2019 and instead delayed its release.

So what was the controversy? Since a lot of people have already covered it before me, I will repeat a very simplified version of it. It basically had to do with conservatives getting angry as well as the release date being a little too close to two mass shootings.

As Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers, and Watchmen) is a producer and writer of this move I am wondering if there is a twist. Also to help with that theory is the fact of a certain line in the second trailer.

The line basically says that the conservatives merely think they are being hunted. As this is supposed to be a satire, having such an in your face message would work. So it could be that the hunting for sport thing is merely in the conservatives' imaginations, like the persecution some conservatives think they are suffering. Case in point is the freakout about the Starbucks cup a few years back.

Or maybe the conservatives are actually the victims in this movie.

So when is The Hunt's new release date? MARCH 13, 2019.
