American Gods (Neil Gaiman)
Title: American Gods
Author: Neil Gaiman
Released: 2001
Rating: 5/5
Basic Plot: Shadow, after getting out of jail, is hired by a mysterious man called Wednesday. Without him fully knowing why, Shadow is pulled into a war between the Old and New Gods.
The Gods
Wednesday is the second god Shadow first encounters. Lowkey Lyesmith is the first one Shadow encounters. Part of the fun of this book is figuring out which gods you're meeting. There are also New Gods but, as they aren't ones you find in mythology, can't be guessed. The most interesting things about gods in this novel is the fact that a god lives and dies by who believes in him or her. It's a good, yet hard to understand at times, plot point.
Shadow's Importance
Shadow is shown to be an important character. Why that is isn't fully revealed until the end. So, throughout the novel you're thinking that Shadow's importance is just because he's the main character. But it's shown that he's the son of a god/goddess who is using him in a quest for power.
The Random Flashbacks
The majority of flashbacks (that aren't related to Shadow) don't make a lot of sense. But, luckily enough, they don't take up too much time. Plus, they are interesting. There's only one flashback that seems to mean anything. And that is Hinzelman's flashback.
Final Thoughts
This is an amazing book. Those who like mythology NEED to read this book. This is a good modern telling of different mythological figures. But what if you don't like reading? HBO is going to be making a series of American Gods. And for those of you that finish American Gods and want it to continue without writing fanfiction? There is a sequel planned for this book! Thank you to everyone who recommended this book to me!

Glimniss (The Good Left Undone)
Series: The Hunger Games
Pairing: Katniss Everdeen and Glimmer
Pairing Type: Femslash
Pairing: Non-Canon (to the max!)
Plot: Katniss Everdeen is forever changed by the Tribute from District 1 (Glimmer). Katniss, after winning the 74th Hunger Games, always remembers Glimmer fondly. However, she feels guilty about loving a Career Tribute.
I made up the title for this pairing. As far as I know I'm one of the few (if only) shipper of this pairing.

Hermain Cain (Rabbit Ad)
Many ads are amusing. Many ads don't make any fucking sense. But only some get the honor to get to the top of that list.
The ad I am talking about today is a new Herman Cain ad. This ad (like his Fish Ad) is amazing for all the wrong reasons!
As you know, Herman Cain dropped out of the race but still makes ads. These ads he is making show the Sequel to the Egg PSA to be intelligent.
Don't believe me? See for yourself:
NOTE: I am spending time with my fiance and that's why I haven't been posting as often.

The Hunger Games (2012)
Title: The Hunger Games
Series: The Hunger Games
Based on the Book: The Hunger Games
Book By: Suzanne Collins
Director: Gary Ross
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth
Rated: PG-13
Released: 2012
Personal Rating: 4.5/5
Oscars: N/A
Basic Plot: Set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place for the latest match.
Compared to the Book
I will get this out of the way first. I might even do another post on all the differences in the movie. Katniss' relationship Rue is explored more. The same basic feelings are shown in the film but you don't feel as much in the movie. The mockingjay isn't clearly explained. You don't get the fact that it basically is the symbol of rebellion. At the end of the movie it isn't shown if Peeta was using Katniss or if he had real feelings for her. In the ending of the book it's shown that Peeta's feelings for Katniss were real.
The Deaths
One thing I was worried about in this movie is if the deaths would be able to equal up to their book counterparts. I am glad to say that the deaths were very good. Rue's death cut like a knife and Riley Dawson...I mean Glimmer (played by Leven Rambin) were my two 'favorite deaths'. Well...Glimmer's death is one of my favorite deaths just because I like the actress. I will say, though, Glimmer still glimmers even in death.
President Snow
I like that the movie shows much more of President Snow than the book. Like, more than a paragraph or two. This prepares for President Snow's increased importance in the series. And he does become VERY important to Katniss especially.
Final Thoughts
This movie was just AWESOME! They were able to pull The Hunger Games off with only a PG-13 rating. The fire scene was just awe inspiring. I felt myself dodging in my seat like I was with Katniss. And there is some good eye candy in this movie: Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen) and Glimmer (Leven Rambin) being among them. This is a movie you NEED to see in a theater to get the full effect.

The Host (First Trailer)
I hate The Host more than Twilight. Everything good about Twilight (and, yes, there were a FEW good things) is removed from The Host.
What's sad is that The Host combines a bunch of genres that would usually make me love it no matter what.
The first trailer for this piece of crap has been released.
The trailer looks better than I remember the book being. Only people who like pain should see this (and this coming from someone who thinks The Room is an enjoyable movie).

Derek's Surgery and Art Festival
Derek (one of my stuffed penguins) had his feet starting to come undone. Luckily Brian and I were down at my Mom's so she fixed him up.
Dad and I went to an art festival a couple of days ago. I don't mention it in this vlog, but it was HOT that day.
For those of you on my Twitter and Facebook page: I thought uploading this vlog wouldn't take long. This wasn't the case. So I will be editing my X-Men 3 (Part 3) video tomorrow. Too late now to start editing it.

The Eternal Heart Promo (Just A Kiss)
Note: The latest section in The Eternal Heart so far is False Hero. So this deals with the future of the series.
Plot: Jash has fallen head over heels for John Connor. But both are unsure how to proceed. John is afraid of breaking up with Katherine Connor (his wife) who was the one who helped him through the War with Skynet so far. He feels he can never repay the debt he owes her. Jash realizes that breaking up John and Kate could be bad for the Resistance. However, they can't deny the deep feelings they have for each other.
The Eternal Heart is my Terminator Fanfiction.

Pretty Little Liars (Season 2)
Show: Pretty Little Liars
Season: 2
Episodes: 25
Developed By: I. Marlene King
Based on the Book Series by: Sara Shepard
Released: 2011-2012
Rating: 4/5
Basic Plot: The search for A deepens. The Liars get new allies to help with their search.
Return of Maya
I am Team Emaya (Emily and Maya) all the way! I just think Maya goes awesome with Emily. Suffice it to say that I was more than excited to see her return this season. The only thing wrong this season with her (besides her probably dying) was that Emily couldn't keep a good relationship with her. If Maya is truly dead my vote is that Emily goes for Samara. While Samara isn't Emily's perfect match, she is still an awesome girl I'd like to see again.
Melissa Appeared to be A
You have probably heard my rant about the A "reveal" (if you haven't, there are a lot of other fans ranting about it too), but before the "reveal" many people suspected Melissa of being A. While in Season 1 she wasn't a suspect, she took center stage as an A suspect. A group of fans gathered together to list their reasons of why A is Melissa.
Ezria and Spody
Ezria (Ezra and Aria) and Spody (Spencer and Toby) were my two favorite couples of this Season (as Emaya wasn't really a thing throughout the majority of this Season). Ezria is a cute couple but they need to get rid of nearly splitting up every other episode. It got boring the 50th time it was done. As for Spody, this is a much more stress filled relationship. It's a relationship I can really get into.
Final Thoughts
I liked this Season. It did go a much darker path. There was much more of a threat to the Liars and those they loved. There was Spencer breaking up with Toby to protect him, Hanna going to great lengths to protect Caleb from A, and that creepy ass Night Doll Shop Scene. And this season got a little more "adultish" with Ezria FINALLY having sex!
Indoctrination Theory (ME 3)
Fans of Mass Effect hate the ending of Mass Effect 3 so much that they have created their own ending.
They have created the Indoctrination Theory. I'm not taking a side on whether it's true or not. But it does make the ending a whole lot more bearable to fans.

Sushi, Sake, and Tanuki: Shinto 1
Location: Japan
The sea air breathed life into my human nose. I was in human form except for my raven wing-arms. Hijunaki, the snake demon, was tasting the air with his tongue. While I was getting a feeling of love, the kind I allowed myself, he didn't seem to be feeling anything. Though it seemed he was calming down.
Thousand of years had passed, but we still weren't friends. There are some things that time can't change. Not even after eternities have passed.
"Yomosa." Hijunaki finally said. "Yomosa."
"What is Yomosa, Master Hijunaki?" I asked, deciding it was best to address him with a respected title.
"Yomosa is a person, not a thing." He hissed angrily. "Yomosa is a lovely woman that the Sun himself is jealous of. For she provides more light than him."
"I don't recall seeing her." A horrifying idea suddenly occurred to me. "And if I have already bedded her, I ask your forgiveness."
As I started to bow, Hijunaki laughed. I didn't know what it meant so I finished my bow and held it.
"As much as I love to see you bowing, Rig, it is impossible for you to have bedded her." He said. "I haven't allowed you to leave my palace, unless it was with me."
I remembered finding Yamaka's body. Eaten by some creature or creatures.
I stood up and laughed out of relief. "Do you realize it's been thousands of years since you went after a woman? That you felt love for a woman?"
"It's not love." Hijunaki hissed. Though I knew that Hijunaki could love. He had loved Yamaka and he would probably love Yomosa the same. "But now is not the time to get her. I must think some more."
With that I flew, while Hijunaki slithered, back to Hijunaki's Palace. Once there I went to my room. After getting to my room I felt myself go back in time.
I was running after a woman through a forest. She was naked and I was naked. She was saying something but I couldn't understand it. Finally I caught up to her and she turned around. I saw the stab wound through her heart and knew who she was.
"You killed me!" She said and laughed.
I finally woke myself up and saw a drawing on my wall of the woman. I had drawn it during one of my many lonely nights. And why wouldn't I get nostalgic about her? Sajoki had been my first love. Someone who I had loved naively. Who had betrayed me.
I suddenly realized what I was doing and started painting over the picture with my own blood.

The Walking Dead (Season 2)
Show: The Walking Dead
Season: 2
Episodes: 13
Developed By: Frank Darabont
Released: 2011
Rating: 4.5/5
Basic Plot: Rick continues to lead his group. Things change when Sophia gets lost and Rick (and gang) go to a farm to save Carl's life.
Sophia
Sophia really became the driving force behind this Season. Once she got lost things went forward this season. And finding out that Sophia was found to be a walker gave me two reactions:
1.) Extreme sadness. People were right in saying that Sophia was the group's hope. And with her death came the death of hope.
2.) Extreme happiness. Finally the series can get going again!
The Reveal About What Rick Was Told At The CDC
This was shocking (though I had been alerted about it a few days before the Finale, "Beside the Dying Fire"). Rick was told that everyone was already infected and therefore being a walker is something in humans. Why Rick held it back isn't clear at this point. I go with him not wanting to scare the group. Knowing that they're going to turn into walkers no matter what isn't useful knowledge. Besides, they haven't really had to kill humans before.
Slow First Half
The first part of this season was slow. I didn't mind it but, really, it did pay off. And by the end of the season everything was just more than awesome! We got to see lots and lots of zombie kills!
Lori
She didn't annoy me in season 1. Season 2 is a whole 'nother story. She just got more annoying over time. By the end of Season 2 I wanted to just slap her. She caused Rick to kill Shane and then she's mad at Rick for killing Shane.
Final Thoughts
This was a good season. Started out good and ended good. Were there problems? Of course! But I didn't miss a single episode. Dale's death made me tear up and nearly cry. When a show can make me do that it means something. It's shown that ANYONE can die and even the main characters aren't safe. But, I must say, can't believe T-Dog survived another season.

Mass Effect 3 Ending
There is a big uprising against the Mass Effect 3 Ending. And I mean everyone who finished the game has the same complaint.
So for those wanting a good video about why people are angry about the ending, here's a video to help:
Note: I haven't played any Mass Effect game. I plan to get into the series sometime in the future.

Saint Patrick's Day 2012
Today presents a time honored tradition of dressing up in green, getting kissed because you're Irish, and getting wasted.
What? You say it's a celebration of Saint Patrick. Oh, sure, a lot of Christians will tell you that. But the popularity of it isn't because of tradition. I bet you a ton of non-Christians will celebrate it today just to have an excuse to drink.
Last night I celebrated Saint Patrick's Day early with Dad and some of his friends. Sadly the conversation eventually went into the 'Christians are being persecuted' territory. The reasoning was lame as they were acting like one professor in one school would make any lasting change on a nation wide scale. As I had drank a little, I was able to cause a scene.
For your enjoyment, here are some Saint Patrick Day themed video. Enjoy!

The Eternal Heart: False Hero
Note: This is a Terminator fanfic that combines a bunch of different timelines, twists them around, and so can't be said to follow any one certain timeline.
--------------------
I opened my eyes as I heard the sounds. The sounds were loud and threatining. Who was I? Where was I? When was it? As a machine attacked me I realized those were questions that could be answered later. Trying to get away from the attacking machine I realized there was a gun in my hand. I didn't know why I didn't notice it before. But, again, that didn't matter. What mattered was that I had a gun.
I aimed it as though I had used guns before. When I shot the machine I realized I must've previously attacked the same kind of machine that was after me. A Terminator. Yes, that was the name. It seemed familiar to me.
As a bullet went over my head I realized I would have to think about that later. I scored a solid hit on the Terminator and fluid burst out. I would've sworn it was red but the fluid changed colors. By the time it fell to the ground I couldn't remember what color it originally was.
As more Terminators attacked my memory came back. The fact that the blood was pumping quickly through my veins must've helped me to remember. My name was Jash and I was a Resistance Fighter.
As my memory came back I was able to kill the metal, a nickname for the Terminators, easier. When I killed them I heard them scream and curse me. Why would metal do those things? Besides, they were the invaders. They were the foot soldiers of Skynet and wouldn't think twice about killing me or any human.
The sounds of battle finally drew to a close. When they were fully gone, it felt eerie. I walked over to one of the Terminators and recalled that his name was Martin Bedell. How did I know that? I nearly laughed when I realized that the Terminator was wearing a nametag with its name on it.
"Just because you have a name doesn't mean I give a shit about you." I said and spit on it. "I am Jash of the Resistance Against Skynet. And I will never surrender my humanity to you."
* * *
"Chug! Chug! Chug!" My comrades said. It didn't matter which one. All of us were pretty drunk now and probably wouldn't remember tonight in the morning. Doing what they wanted me to, I chugged down another mug of beer. They cheered louder and the drinking continuned.
Was the battle I was just in really that big? I didn't think so. It seemed more like a test than a battle. And definitely not something that a leader would allow soldiers should to get drunk for. Being in the state I was in now would make me less able to fight the metal. Turning to look at two of my female comrades, I saw them in a deep passionate kiss. Nothing stirred in me, but the men were starring.
This was odd. These were soldiers. Two women turning lesbian because of alcohol wasn't anything to worry about. But trained soldiers acting like schoolboys wasn't normal. Or was it? Couldn't I allow the soldiers, that were risking their lives, a little slack? No. No I couldn't.
As I started to walk over to them I stumbled and fell. The room erupted in laughter. "Fuck." I cursed under my breath. After a few minutes I was able to get myself back up. It seemed the party had died down quickly.
I felt a little strange and started going towards the sick bay. Probably just drunk, but I had to make sure.
After I stumbled into the sick bay, a doctor helped me to a table. This particular base didn't have a real sick bay.
"Seems like you got banged up bad." The doctor said in a comforting voice. But while his voice was kind, his face gave off no emotion. As he started to inspect me I saw him get some disinfectent. Probably homemade since it was better to do that. That was because if there was ever a shortage, you'd better save the best for the worst incidents. "So you just came back from that battle?"
"No." I said. What was up with this guy? "I got a little too drunk at the party tonight. I think it was to celebrate the battle."
"The party?" The doctor asked. "Oh, yeah, that. Yes, that's what the wounds are from. Forgot what can happen in parties."
"Don't you go to any?" I asked.
"Not often." He said, but I could tell he was lying. He didn't go to any. While that was, in itself, not suspicious. It seemed to mean something that he didn't know about the party.
0000
I saw a field of nothing but sheep. Everywhere I looked there were sheep. One of the sheep closet to me had no wool on one side. Instead it was pure coltan like a Terminator. It noticed the attetion I was giving it and it just looked at me. Then it ran at me and I woke up suddenly.
I saw I was still in my room and that there were no man killing Terminator sheep. Nope. Just regualr killer robots. A second after waking up, I heard a knock on my door. I sighed and opened the door. One of my comrades was outside.
"What is it? I'm still waiting for my hangover to go away." I said angrily. Though I didn't know if it was a hangover. But those thoughts could wait.
"I can't tell you." He replied. "Only once the special group is gathered can I tell you. There can be no chance that someone outside of the special group will hear it."
* * *
The debriefing had been earlier and now things were actually going to happen. I was a little nervous as I hadn't gone into battle before. No, that couldn't be true. Must be because going into battle was so scary to me that my memory erased those moments.
"You feeling alright, Jash?" One of my comrades asked me. I couldn't remember his rank and he wasn't wearing any identification. And why should he? This mission was one of infiltration. We were going to pretend to be Greys, traitors to humanity, and destroy one of Skynet's bases.
"Yeah," I replied. "Just don't like the waiting."
"That's the majority of war." The words made him sound like he was making a joke, but there was no inflection to his voice.
Finally the boarding was happening. There were four trucks and I went to drive one. Me being a driver must mean that they trusted me not to panic. Especially in the situation we'd be getting ourselves into.
The comrade that was sitting beside me wasn't familiar but that didn't matter. We were all fighting the same enemy. Betrayals wouldn't happen until after the war, most likely.
After a few minutes I drove behind the third truck and the mission truly started.
As I drove I was still able to think about things other than my surroundings. This was because I had others in the truck with me and was aware enough to notice anything attacking the convoy.
What I decided to think about was a strange choice. It was something I was told during the debriefing. That I was to show no mercy to the Terminators. Also, that they could make themselves appear human. Though they were only in the beginning stages of the Infiltration Series.
Of course I wouldn't show any mercy to a Terminator! Even if it had human skin. The thought of a Terminator, a large chunk of lifeless metal, pretending to be human made me clutch the stearing wheel tightly. The comrade sitting beside me looked at me so I lessened my grip on the steering wheel.
"Just preparing myself." I told her and she went back to making sure nothing was about to attack us.
What if she was a Terminator? No, couldn't be. Her skin was too human to be a Terminator. Her expression had been odd but that didn't mean anything. We were going into battle and so acting weird wasn't a warning. At least not to me.
We finally got to the base where a Grey was waiting to greet us. Well, that's how the plan was supposed to go. Since I was the last truck in the convoy, I watched the Resistance Fighters in the first truck deal with the guard.
But the guard didn't let us in. Instead he tried to shout before being shot. Then all of us headed quickly into the base. We had a mission to do.
Even in the first few minutes of this mission there was enough bloodshed of Greys and Terminators to fill me for a lifetime. Half-way through the massacre, that's what I considered it, I forgot what the mission had originally been. Hell, I didn't know what it was now. The only thought going through my mind was to kill.
* * *
I shouldn't be blamed for what I was doing now. No one would blame me, but I blamed myself now. Running away from battle felt terrible. My right arm was injured and wouldn't allow me to shoot with any aim. I had shot some of my own men when I had tried.
Why was I running? There weren't any vehicles to get. It would take too much time to get one running. The terrain was good for hiding, as fate would have it. Not too good, Judgment Day had taken a number on Earth. I hid behind a boulder and killed the two that were pursuing me.
Well, that's what I would tell my superiors. Instead, I shot their kneecaps and continued to run. It would be a few miles before I could slow down. But I would reach base. I would make sure of it.
* * *
I had gotten back to my current base hours ago. The doctor had looked over me and I had rested. I didn't have any duties to perform so I started to explore. There were parts of the base that were off limits for some reason. A more obedient soldier than I would've left those areas alone. But I was curious.
Finding a lock door I picked it. It was surprisingly difficult. It lead to a 'hidden' area but the lock seemed odd. No matter, I got it unlocked and then opened it. Walking a few feet I saw a symbol on the walls.
On the left side it was easier to make out than the same one on the right side. The symbol was of a triangle. Two triangles and one diamond that made one big triangle. The symbol for Cyberdyne which was the company that had made Skynet.
They just had to be random sketchings on the wall. Just had to be. Even if they weren't, the Resistance was hiding out in a former Skynet base. No problem there. Right? As I reached the end of the hallway I entered a room that destroyed all doubts.
I leaned against a wall in shock at what I was seeing. I now knew that I had been fighting on the wrong side all along.
The room I was in was a factory. But not of anything useful to the Resistance. Right in front of my eyes Terminators were being made.
But how was it possible that I had been fighting for Skynet and not have known what I was doing? Could brainwashing really be that good of a tool?
Before I could think of anything more, something hit the back of my head and all was black.
"Jash!" A loud and angry voice shouted in my ear. I opened my eyes and saw a commander looking me dead in the eyes. His look was something that I shouldn't have seen, especially after first waking up. I quickly stood up.
"What is it?" I asked. I would've been more polite had I not remembered what I had seen last night. But what had I seen? "Terminator Factory."
"Your one of those nuts?" The Commander asked. I hadn't meant to say 'Terminator Factory' out loud but I had. And now the enemy would know. "Somehow all the people who just get assigned to Base 42 think Terminators are still made here. It's been years since the factory has been working."
"Then why is it off limits?"
"Because a Grey could build a Terminator and then we'd all be dead here." He explained. "And if it is running, which it couldn't possibly be, then it would be because of a Grey. Not because of any of us in command."
"I have proof." I said, turned around, and lifted up my hair. "Someone, or something, knocked me out by hitting the back of my head."
The Commander looked for a few minutes and then replied, "There's no mark on the back of your head. You must have fallen asleep while on patrol."
"I didn't have patrol last night." I said.
The Commander shook his head. "You did. That's why I was looking for you."
"What do you want me to do, Sir?" I asked. I was afraid of a possible punishment.
"Since you're well rested now, go get something to eat and go out on patrol." He commanded. "Go five miles out and circle the base a few times. Those who actually took their patrolling duties seriously thinks there might be intruders coming."
I wanted to ask why me but figured it wouldn't be a good idea. I had a bad dream and annoyed a commander. I looked around and saw that I had been sleeping on the roof of Base 42.
As I went to the mess hall I thought that it was highly likely that what I had seen was a dream. When I sat down and started to eat my food I remembered some of my comrades telling me about this being an old Cyberdyne Building. Though, somehow, that memory seemed to be new. It did occur a few weeks back, but it seemed as though it was from a few hours ago.
So had I just dreamt it all? I guess the answer would be yes. How hard the Terminator, or Grey, had hurt me would leave a mark. I rubbed the back of my head and felt nothing. But the dream had felt so real.
After I finished eating I headed out to patrol duty. It was boring for the first hour or so. Finally there was some action. As the two people came closer I tried to identify them.
One had long dark hair and large lips. It looked like a million bees had stung them. However, I could see a beauty and strength in her movements. The other person had blond hair, normal sized lips, and a good pair of titties. Those things weren't huge, but still bigger than normal.
When they got close they pointed their guns at me and I put my finger on the trigger to my own.
"Who are you?" I asked them.
The one with the large lips replied, "Commander Jesse Flores and," Jesse pointed to the other one with her eyes. "Riley Dawson."
I thought about those names. I suddenly remembered them as Greys. I aimed at Jesse but Riley stepped in the way. While Jesse seemed to be a sinner, Riley appeared innocent. She must have fought and killed, but there was still innocence in her.
"Put the gun down, metal." Jesse said and Riley stayed where she was. I put my gun down slowly and stood back up.
Looking at Riley I noticed that she was wearing a type of armor underneath her clothing. There was a slight bulge that I hadn't noticed before. It had been a trap.

* * *
"Chug!
* * *

The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
Title: The Adventures of Tintin
Based on the Comic Book Series: The Adventures of Tintin
Director: Steven Spielberg
Starring: Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, and Daniel Craig
Rated: PG
Released: 2011
Personal Rating: 4.5/5
Oscars: Nominated for 1
Basic Plot: Intrepid reporter Tintin and Captain Haddock set off on a treasure hunt for a sunken ship commanded by Haddock's ancestor.
The Graphics
The graphics in this movie are VERY well done. From the characters, to surroundings, and everything else. I liked the fact that, in the very beginning of the movie, they showed how Tintin originally looked in the comics. They did this without even making it look odd. You can tell that time was spent on the graphics used in this movie.
Scharlaken Rackham
This character is just AWESOME! The evilness drips from every inch of this character. From the first time you meet him you know he's no good. And his villain does seem evil to my adult mind. Daniel Craig does an excellent job in this role. In no way do you feel pity for Scharlaken. And, at the same time, you savor every moment he's on screen. He's one of those villains you just love to hate.
3D Version
I did not see this in 3D. However, on the IMDB Trivia page (for this movie) it showed that Steven Spielberg did spend time on the 3D. aka It wasn't Post-Production 3D. However, I can't tell if the end product is good.
Final Thoughts
This is a great movie and I agree that it was snubbed in this year's Oscars. There were so many good performances and the story telling was outstanding. I haven't read the original comics so I can't say how this compares to them. But the movie is still enjoyable. I would highly recommend you go out and see this movie.

This Means War (2012)
Title: This Means War
Director: McG
Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, and Tom Hardy
Rated: PG-13
Released: 2012
Personal Rating: 3/5
Oscars: N/A
Was Better Than I Expected
I was worried that this movie would suck. However, it didn't make me cringe throughout the majority of the movie. Chris Pine was awesome in his role. The cocky, woman-hungry man is a good character for him to play. I can see why people think that the revenge sub-plot is unneeded. I know I wouldn't miss it being removed from this film.
Who Reese Witherspoon Chooses
Is VERY predictable. Yeah, Chris Pine. This is perfect for Tom Hardy who gets back to his wife. Though the reason for her coming back to Hardy is because banging a secret agent is SEXY. And Witherspoon choosing ANY of them just didn't make that much sense.
Final Thoughts
There is not much to say about this movie. It is good but unimpressive. I would say you should wait for this movie to come onto DVD to see it. You don't need to go to the movie theater.

Prometheus Trailer
I usually don't care about movies coming out. But this is one of the rare ones.
I like the Alien series. The Xenomorphs are cool in any stage of development. So when I first heard about Prometheus (before any of the trailers started coming out) I was interested. Now I am full blown obsessed with seeing this movie.
I finally saw this trailer in theaters and was at the edge of my seat. It was my favorite part of the movie me, Brian, and Jessica saw that day!
Hopefully Ridley Scott will not disappoint.

The Thing (2011)
Title: The Thing
Series: The Thing
Director: Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.
Starring: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, and Ulrich Thomsen
Rated: R
Released: 2011
Personal Rating: 4/5
Oscars: None
Basic Plot: At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson.
The Prequel Vs. The Original
I LOVE John Carpenter's The Thing. It is one of the VERY few horror movies that scared me. This prequel scared me, but in a different way. The original was fueled by paranoia and there was hardly any action (the fighting kind of action, at least). The prequel has much more action than the original. I love both movies, but the original is better than the prequel. This isn't to say to not see the prequel. It is a good movie on its own merits.
The Alien Ship
This was, by far, one of the best parts of the movie. Seeing the alien ship was just a 'wow' moment. Unfortunately, the 'Tetris version' was the one released for theaters. Reading about the 'Pilot version' made me wish I could see that version of the ship. The tetris thing made no fucking sense. I was actually waiting for Daftpunk to start playing. However, the action that happens there is enough to make up for that one moment.
Appearance of The Thing
The Thing is shown to look awesome! People have complained about it appearing too much (but I go with the group that points out The Thing has just woken up) but the look is good. However, going with less CGI would've been better. There are lots of points where it looks like The Thing is from a video game (specifically Dead Space).
Final Thoughts
One of the main questions that people asked (myself included) was if this was a remake or a prequel. Even after the question was answered, people were still asking. There should've been a subtitle for this. Hell, The Thing: THIS IS NOT A REMAKE would've worked. I like this movie. Even though it isn't as good as the original, that's no reason to hate it.

The Eternal Heart: False Hero 4
Note:This is a Terminator fanfic that combines a bunch of different timelines, twists them around, and so can't be said to follow any one certain timeline.
* * *

The Walking Dead Season 2 Finale (Sneak Peek)
On this week's episode ("Better Angels") the ending was...I'm going to quote Chris Hardwick (from The Talking Dead) here: we're all going to need a lot of therapy.
So, of course, what happens in the finale next week is making me wish for time travel.
We're going to have to deal with the fact that now you don't need to be bitten to be turned into a zombie (which is the same as the comics). So ANYONE who dies can become a zombie.
What are you looking forward to in the finale?
Here is the trailer for next week's episode:

Proposal
Yes, I am engaged to revrezner (also called Brian and Biggy). This happened New Year's (2012).
I met Brian on an online dating site. I had gone out with 2-3 people from that site and none got a second date. Brian, as can be seen, was different.
If you're wondering, we don't have a date set yet for the wedding. We both want to get our own place before we marry.

Literary Cesnorship By A Surprising Source
I am against the censorship of anything, especially classic pieces of literature. Pieces that are usually censored because people misunderstand the book's point.
I took the books below from THIS LIST:
Books have been banned because of people thinking that children will become unable to tell the difference between fantasy and reality (Bridge to Terabithia and Harry Potter series). Also because of profanity (The Color Purple and To Kill a Mockingbird).
But I'm not making this post about another book being banned. It's the fact that PayPal is now censoring where it takes money from. PayPal is supposed to be NEUTRAL. Their whole point is the transfer of money.
I agree that their idea of removing 'bad things' is a good goal. But it doesn't work in reality. As classic literature does have incest, rape, ect. but the books give a message. In which one or more unlikable things becomes necessary to tell the story.
Mind you, I'm not talking smut. I believe it shouldn't be censored, but it is NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE to classic literature. 'Cause, you know, it's smut.

The Eternal Heart: False Hero 3
The thought of a Terminator, a large chunk of lifeless metal, pretending to be human made me clutch the steering wheel tightly.

Is College Neccesary?
First off, being educated is a must. I don't want idiots walking around. But do you have to go to college/university to stop being an idiot and get a good paying job?
Here's the funny thing: Most college graduates don't have jobs and are in debt. Serious debt from Student Loans.
I graduated from college with an English Degree in Creative Writing from Saint Leo, University (in 2009). Luckily I didn't have to take out any student loans because my parents had money stored up for me to use for college. However, I went to a community college my final semester because the money was running VERY low (I only had to do electives so I didn't need to take them at Saint Leo, had the credits transferred).
So with these facts: Going to college would not help ANYONE that's having financial trouble. Even if you do graduate, there will still be debt.
Of course, depending on your degree you may have a better chance of getting a good job.
If you're wondering: I've been job hunting for two years. You may now commence Jobless English Major jokes.

The Andromeda Strain: Oh, God, Why?
I will hopefully cover The Andromeda Strain (2008) in an actual review. Watching it will be a pain, however.
I am a big Michael Crichton fan and have loved every book of his I have read (not counting Pirate Latitudes) and have read the original novel The Andromeda Strain. The fact that Crichton was a doctor really helps sell this novel.
The 1971 movie adaption stayed very true to the source material.
However, I have heard of a 2008 re-imaging/remake that came out as a mini-series on A&E. The thing with remakes is that you walk a very fine line. Especially when the original source material is so well loved. The tone of the original movie and source material was very slow and scientific.
Here is the trailer for the mini-series:
As you can see, the tone is DRASTICALLY different. They seem to go more action heavy. Reading the plot synopsis I had to pause every few seconds to not lash out in rage. They added: government conspiracy, Andromeda is a virus from the future, a wormhole, and some other things.
They make a simple story so convoluted. The focus of the original movie and novel was the Andromeda Strain itself. I think changes on updating the equipment and such would be okay. But I don't feel that the story should've become so convoluted.
I plan to see this mini-series in the future and review it.

Hugo (2011)
Title: Hugo
Director: Martin Scorsese
Starring: Asa Butterfield, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Christopher Lee
Rated: PG
Released: 2011
Personal Rating: 3/5
Oscars: 5
Basic Plot: Set in 1930s Paris, an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station is wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton.
The Visuals
The visuals in this movie are amazing. I only saw this in 2D (at home) and so can't comment on the 3D. One of the most persistent 'visuals' was the drawing of a spaceship crashing into the eye of the moon (the moon was drawn with a man's face on it). This image keeps on reappearing in different ways and it never seems out of place! Besides that, this is just a visual wonder.
The Story Isn't Engaging
I didn't find this story engaging. It was an interesting mystery but I thought that the resolution didn't make sense. It turns out that a famous film director was forgotten so he went into hiding because of shame. I think I was meant to care for this character's plight, but I didn't. Hugo's own plights, however, were a little more interesting.
Movies Are Awesome
One of the things that made me get annoyed was the message 'movies are great, movies are awesome' being repeated all throughout the movie. I know movies are awesome! I'm watching this, aren't I? I don't think this message will attract new moviegoers, but give old moviegoers a sense of nostalgia. The only good thing about this message is that it connects to the main plot.
Final Thoughts
This movie was meh. I agree that it deserved its awards, but it didn't wow me. I really wish I could like this movie more than I did. I was even feeling VERY sick that night (which usually makes films more enjoyable to me). The visuals and acting are the high points of this film.

Rush Limbaugh on the Topic of Birth Control
Before I fully start this post I will say that I don't side with any political party (Republican or Democrat). So because this post is bashing Limbaugh doesn't mean I'm doing it because I'm a Democrat. I'm doing it because I have a brain.
Limbaugh recently made a comment about birth control and said all women who use it are sluts. That sound bad? It gets worse! He also said women who take birth control should have to post themselves having sex online. Wait...what?
Now I'm not going to touch on the topic if birth control is 'right' or if it should be covered under insurance. It's not that I don't have opinion on those things, it's the fact that it's not what I'm talking about here.
First off: Just because someone takes birth control doesn't mean that person is a slut. Women take birth control for menstrual cramps, PMS, and acne (among other things).
And let's use me as an example: I'm on birth control and I'm engaged. Am I running around sleeping with other men (or women)? Fuck no! I have finally found someone I can spend the rest of my life with. I am not going to mess this up. So, no, I am NOT slut.
Second, as for the porn aspect? I don't have anything against people who make porn. Whether professional or amateur. However, I don't worship them either. The thing is that there should be a CHOICE of whether or not you make it. You shouldn't be forced into making porn because someone thinks you're a slut.
That is just so demeaning that I can't believe people actually listen to what he says. I'm even more surprised that those who listen think he's intelligent!

The Eternal Heart: False Hero 2
Note:This is a Terminator fanfic that combines a bunch of different timelines, twists them around, and so can't be said to follow any one certain timeline.
"Chug! Chug! Chug!" My comrades said. It didn't matter which one. All of us were pretty drunk now and probably wouldn't remember tonight in the morning. Doing what they wanted me to, I chugged down another mug of beer. They cheered louder and the drinking continued.
As he started to inspect me I saw him get some disinfectant.

I saw a field of nothing but sheep. Everywhere I looked there were sheep. One of the sheep closet to me had no wool on one side. Instead it was pure coltan like a Terminator. It noticed the attention I was giving it and it just looked at me. Then it ran at me and I woke up suddenly.
I saw I was still in my room and that there were no man killing Terminator sheep. Nope. Just regular killer robots.
