Jak lives with his grandfather in the production “community” of Fieldworks 7, one of many such facilities in the country of Greater California. One day Jak ventures into a previously unnoticed basement in their shack. He finds the “deep time tapes,” revealing knowledge that has been suppressed and hidden for perhaps centuries. The tapes tell of the Truth Wars, of how disinformation from websites such as Factbook and Truthbook helped destroy the world: among many other revelations.

News of Jak’s discovery finds its way to the wrong people.

Chased across the country of Greater California by the Truth Police (a paramilitary group set up long ago), Jak finds hope in groups of people he thought were only legend, the Wanderers, peoples who have never lived in a Fieldworks community.

Jak’s quest for Truth and survival costs him more than he could have ever imagined.

Exploring The Betrayal (Part 2)

Friday I saw the final Fear Street movie on Netflix. One of the reasons it became dear to my heart was the same-sex relationship between Deena Johnson and Sam Fraser. Their relationship was handled so well and is the cornerstone of Netflix's Fear Street Trilogy.

I know that there are going to be differences between the origins stated in The Betrayal and Fear Street Part 3: 1666. The main relationship isn't going to be between two women and there's probably going to be some major differences with the curse.

So let's continue with The Betrayal by R.L.Stine!

Monika: One and Many

Doki Doki Literature Club was released in 2017. It didn't seem like anything more than a standard visual novel where you're able to choose which of three eligible girls to date. There was a warning about disturbing content but that didn't adequately prepare players for exactly what they were getting into.

Instead of a simple dating simulation, players were treated to a story about how the character Monika gained sentience and hacked the game so she could date the player. Yep, not the protagonist but you. Of course that's only the very tip of the iceberg of the complex lore behind the game.

Fear Street Part 3: 1666 (Mini-Review)

Fear Street Part 3: 1666 is the third and final part of a movie trilogy based on the Fear Street books by R.L.Stine. This final part sees Deena Johnson being shown the horrifying truth of the curse by Sarah Fier. With that information she knows the way that the three hundred year old curse can finally be lifted from Shadyside and Samantha Fraser freed. Fear Street Part 3: 1666 was released on Netflix in 2021. It was directed by Leigh Janiak. It stars Kiana Madeira, Ashley Zukerman, and Gillian Jacobs.

Exploring The Betrayal (Part 1)

Welcome to a brand new series that hopefully won't die a silent death! The Exploring series will focus on me going through various books chapter by chapter. Sometimes the books will be ones I have read in the past while at other times the books will be new to me. The Exploring series will be in the same general vein as my Animorphs Re-Read one.

If you're wondering why I stopped that series: I can't remember exactly. I just know that at a certain point it became tedious for me to get new entries out and I was doing other projects concerning the Animorphs series. So I guess since it just seemed unneeded at a certain point, I stopped it.

So what will be the first book I tackle?
