I am making this series of blog posts for my roleplaying friends. The Rin Duology
is a long Game of Thrones/Resident Evil fanfcition and you shouldn't
need to read it to understand my Original Character (OC) Rin.
Now when I write fanfictions I don't always adhere to canon and deviate
from it. Sometimes in large ways and sometimes in minor ways. So please
ask me about what I know about the canon of either series before
assuming. Although I have no doubt some will ignore this part.
This post will explore the odd eggs that Rin lays when having sex with Jon Snow. It will explain why this happens and what this means for Rin's House.
A Goal of House Kaari
While Rin usually says she is a member of House Kaari, it isn't usually mentioned that her House is actually a humanoid species. They were created when a dragon, dubbed the Last Dragon, hatched humans from eggs. This species, as it evolved from a dragon, is very magical.
In all walks of life they appear human. Only two of Rin's children were slightly deformed, showing that Kaari that don't look human are uncommon.
A goal of the Kaari was to find the next stage of their evolution. They did so slowly as they did not want to mess up. They knew that evolution was extremely complicated and so through the course of them living in Old Valyria, no changes were made.
By the time Rin was born, she was all that remained of the Kaari. The only one that could carry on her species. The last hope for the survival of her species.
The Mixing of Kaari and Targaryen Blood
There has never been a Kaari with Targaryen blood until Rin's children. This is due to the intense hatred between the two Houses. Elder members of House Kaari were keen to keep track of who bore children with who. The slightest scent of Targaryen blood would mean that the suitor would no longer be considered.
Even youthful Kaari, who were free with whom they bedded, followed this rule. If it did turn out there would be a child born of Kaari and Targaryen blood, that child would be killed before it got the chance to breathe its first breath.
In short, the huge rivalry between the two Houses stopped them breeding with each other.
For Rin this means she has no Targaryen blood in her. Even when the Kaari went to Westeros, they still kept up their strict policy of not having even the tiniest bit of Targaryen blood in them. This meant they tended to breed with those who lived in the North.
When Rin found out she was the last of her House, she felt a kind of honor she had never felt before. She had always put a person before their House. But after the revelation of her heritage she put her House above her. Rin wanted to marry a Targaryen to help end the fierce rivalry between their two Houses. Unlike her ancestors, she did not want the feud with House Targaryen to continue.
Unbeknownst to Rin or the Rasiki, mixing Targaryen and Kaari blood provided the next stage in evolution for the Kaari. Rin's dragon spirit also helped her species get to the next stage of their evolution. No one expected for things to turn out the way they did.
Kaari 2.0
Kaari eggs are very similar to dragon eggs, with a few notable exceptions. First off is that Kaari eggs aren't warm to the touch, instead they are cool to the touch.
The other notable exception is that they feel like smooth stones. This is unlike the harsh feel of a dragon's egg.
When they hatch, the Kaari are a mixture of both human and dragon. On their dragon side they have wings on their backs, a tail, dragon teeth, feet that resemble those of a dragon, hands that resemble claws, and scales instead of human skin.
On their human side they have human genitalia, hair, and the females have mammary glands like that of a human.
After Jon Snow dies Rin is unable to lay any new Kaari eggs. Tyrion Lannister, the only other male Targaryen, died at the Battle of the Vale. So there is no one else for Rin to mix with who has the proper blood.
However, all is not lost for the Kaari. This is since new Kaari can also produce new Kaari when mating with anyone.
