Chronicles of Gaia (Table of Contents)

Thousands of years in the past some of humanity left the Earth, abandoning the rest as they felt them unworthy. The humans that remained were forced to survive the changing planet on their on. Soon the planet was beset by plagues leaving the remaining humans forced to change so that they could survive.

Through trial and error, a process using genetic manipulation was found to allow a person to change into any animal at will. The humans on Earth now called themselves Drethiveal and the process of changing was called Aveal.

The new inhabitants of Earth changed names of places in their distaste of what species they had once been. Human became the foulest word a person could speak.

It had seemed that humans and Drethiveal would leave each other alone until Buteo Ralph finds that humans are returning. He soon finds that he must become what he had never wanted to be: a warrior.

A Fateful Journey 3

"Ow." Crayak said as it flinched away from my herbs.

"Is the big bad Crayak hurt from a minor wound?" I teased it.

I didn't usually have that fierce of a sense of humor, but I had spent a few minutes patching myself up and hours helping him. The wound on my shoulder hurt and would leave a scar, but it wouldn't be infected. That's what was important now.

Today, like most days, I was training under Vergere. It felt like training would never end and that was okay. Training was learning and learning should never end. Once you stopped learning, you stopped embracing the world and that was a terrible thing.

I was already adept at using the element of Shadow as I was brought into this world by the glory of the Shadowbinder. But to truly be a Yun-Harla was to be adept at all forms of magic. Embracing each deity and element as easily as the deity that gave me birth. That gave me life.

Today we were doing some exercises with the element of Light. Calling upon the Lightweaver's power seemed confusing to me. I could use the power but...it was just so different from Shadow.
