Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Title: Captain America: The First Avenger

Series: Captain America

Director: Joe Johnston

Starring: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, and Samuel L. Jackson

Rated: PG-13

Released: 2011

Rating: 4/5

Oscars: None

Basic Plot: Steve Rogers is chosen to become a super soldier.

Steve Rogers' Transformation
The transformation of Steve Rogers is very good. How they make him skinny (using some CG) and then all muscular is superb. That's only one of the transformations. Another is the character and how others react around him. His angelic side isn't changed but how he reacts to people is amusing at times. This is because he's been skinny and beat up all his life that he steps into a whole new world in the course of this movie.

Red Skull
The make up for this character was AWESOME! Through the majority of the film you don't seem him referred to as Red Skull or the makeup. But when it's revealed it is lovely to behold! I've seen previous pictures of Red Skull from previous movies and they just can't compete to this movie's version.

Bucky's Death
I don't believe this character is dead. When Steve/Captain America rescues Bucky from capture, Bucky looks like he had been experimented on. Reading on imDB it seems I am correct since, in the comics, Bucky becomes Winter Soldier. Oh, and I am not sorry about "forgetting" to warn you about this spoiler.

Final Thoughts
I am not a Captain America fan and nor do I read a lot of the comics. So my review is biased because of those facts. However, this is a very well made movie. Even if you don't find it deep, it will be entertaining (as this kind of movie should be). At the end of the movie it gets you all ready for The Avengers movie.

The Green: Illegal 4

Forever and eternity passed as I waited in front of Plague's house. Night turned into early morning before I saw Plague riding a motorcycle. He was driving erratically and when he got closer I could see why. He was covered with blood and I hoped most of it wasn't his.

Racing to the front of the driveway I waited for him to stop. When he did I helped him off. No words were spoken but grunts were made by both of us. I sat Plague down at the table in the kitchen.

"I'm sorry." I said as I raced to get the First Aid Kit that was in the house. Guilt flooded me as I went over the whole house since my memory had left me. I could possibly become the reason Plague died. Finally, after eons had passed, I got the First Aid Kit.

"How are you doing?" I asked Plague as I started to use the kit.

For a moment he was silent and then asked, "Did you at least get some of the Gralg?"

"Yes. Yes I did." I said and finished using the kit on him. Luckily the majority of the blood wasn't his or came from cuts that weren't that deep.

"Pretty good for your first time." Plague said and managed a small smile as he looked over my work.

"I panicked. I got you hurt, Plague."

"Matthias, it's common to panic on your first time out."

I nodded sadly and decided not to argue anymore. "Did you get anything besides wounds?"

He nodded. "Yes. After I managed to knock the person out I got this." He said and went into his pocket to take something out.

"Who was that person? How did he know you? And what's a butt buddy?" I asked.

"He was a man I ran into from a previous case. Who he is isn't important. And, for your last question, that's…" Plague paused for a long time. It seemed that either the term butt buddy was a very delicate thing or he didn't want to admit something. And what if he didn't want to admit something that was obvious to everyone but me? "A butt buddy is a term for a male gay lover. When gay men have sex they sometimes put their penis into the other one's anus."

I nodded, though I was still confused. How could anyone find that enjoyable?

Plague opened his hand and I realized I had forgotten about what he had been doing before. He opened his hand and there was a piece of paper. He handed it to me and I read it.

"So people are trying to grow it now?" I asked Plague and he nodded.

"We should hand this paper, after copying it, to the police as well as the Gralg you have." He said.

"Are you sure they won't throw this stuff away as a hoax?"

"The police trust me. I believe there isn't a high likelihood that they will."

I nodded but was still nervous. I trusted Plague but I didn't trust others as much.

A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas (2011)

Title: A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas

Series: Harold and Kumar

Director: Todd Strauss-Schulson

Starring: Kal Penn, John Cho, and Neil Patrick Harris

Rated: R

Released: 2011

Rating: 5/5

Oscars: N/A

Basic Plot: Harold and Kumar are reunited and then are out for a night of wildness as they look for a Christmas Tree.

The 3D
The 3D to this movie just takes the cake. I am not a fan of 3D (unless it's in a theme park and extremely cheesy, like Terminator 2 3D) but the 3D in this movie is awesome. So many weird things are thrown at the screen and it's done throughout the entire movie. Plus, it is cheesy and the movie makes fun of 3D ("It's 3D. You know Daddy Daughter Day.") in numerous parts.

Disrespects Everything Under The Sun
What made this movie so fun for me is that I didn't mind everything getting disrespected. There is so much drug and sex in this that if you have any qualms about ANYTHING being in a film, you probably won't enjoy this. This is very much a stoner film. Everything is so messed up it doesn't make sense to a sober person. Mind you, this movie is a comedy so everything done is for laughs and not to gross you out.

Neil Patrick Harris
As NPH makes the hit show How I Met Your Mother, he makes this movie. Though he isn't in the movie a lot, he leaves the most impact. I could've made a review just about what he does in the movie. If you like NPH you should see this movie just for him. He is THAT good. NPH did "address" his gayness. However, if anyone thinks it's serious, they are dumb. It is done, as with the rest of this movie, for laughs. And laughs only.

Final Thoughts
This movie is good, but the 3D in it is really essential for enjoying the movie. A bunch of the jokes will fall flat when seen in 2D. I don't believe it is being shown anywhere in 2D. If it is, take the 3D version. I didn't see this movie after consuming anything so my review isn't biased because of that.

Terminator 2 (Part 1)

I get started on my Terminator 2 review by bringing people up to speed as to what Terminator 2: Judgment Day is about.

If that version does not work for you, try this one:
