I tend to have Mini-Reviews be spoiler free. But as this is an adaptation, I am not going to hold onto that rule like usual. So if you don't want spoilers for the graphic novel adaptation or the original book, I suggest you read those first before continuing.
Around an hour after finishing this book, I realized something was missing. Something had been left out and it bugged me until the answer came to me. In the original book there were symbolic dreams that Jake had. In them he was a tiger, his battle morph, hunting Tom. Then he turns into Tom and is being hunted by the tiger. It's foreshadowing of Jake eventually becoming infested by Tom's previous Yeerk.
While writing the above paragraph I realized that Jake doesn't see Crayak as the Yeerk dies. If there are no more graphic novel adaptations of Animorphs then this won't matter. But if more are made...Crayak is a minor antagonist of the series. He plays a 'game' with the Ellimist and each uses species like chess pieces.
This is my favorite book in the series but the real weight is felt upon finishing the series. K.A.Applegate did right by readers in that she didn't give us a happily ever after. She made a book series about war and stuck to her guns until the very end. I won't spoil what that ending was for Jake and Tom but will warn the brave reader not to expect a happy ending.
I would highly suggest The Capture by Chris Grine to those who love science fiction. I would also highly suggest The Capture by Chris Grine to fans of the original Animorphs books.
