Shipping Confessions: Kylo Ren/Rey (Star Wars)

Star Wars is a series that spans many movies, books, video games, and other media. It is a series that captured the imaginations of many around the world. The movies focus on the classic struggle of good versus evil with mystical warriors at the forefront.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was able to reawaken the Star Wars movies. After the prequels came out I grew worried that any Star Wars movie could be good again. I was happy to see that The Force Awakens proved me wrong.

Today I'm going to be looking at a possible incest ship. I say possible as we don't know the exact genealogy of Rey and Kylo Ren. It is possible that they aren't related and yet it's equally possible that they are related.
The bios for Kylo Ren and Rey won't be as detailed as past entries in Shipping Confessions. This is because Kylo and Rey's histories are still a bit of a mystery.

Kylo Ren was born Ben Solo. For some long time Star Wars fans this is a little odd as in the old canon Luke Skywalker had a son named Ben. If you don't know what I mean by old and new canon, be thankful that you still have some sanity in you.

Leia Organa Solo sent Ben to be trained by Luke Skywalker. Like the majority of his family, Ben was strong with the force.

Until the next Star Wars movie is released, there is no information on exactly what happened to turn Ben Solo into Kylo Ren. The following is merely my assumption of what happened.

During training with Luke, Snoke was able to get to Ben. He did so by using Ben's insecurities and wants. He told the boy exactly what he wanted to hear. Tempted him. The boy's lineage probably intrigued Snoke as Ben had a powerful grandfather and uncle. The fact that Ben was already trained in the light side was probably also intriguing. I say this because we're supposed to learn new things about the Force in the newest Star Wars trilogy.
Whatever the case, Ben became Kylo Ren and founded the Knights of Ren. They are not Sith and they are not Jedi.

Kylo and Rey meet with the man showing interest in her. He tries unsuccessfully to interrogate her. He tries interrogating her by using the tricks that have worked so well in the past. The main one being trying to invade her mind. She turns the trick back on him and he leaves the room in fear.

Throughout The Force Awakens you can tell that Kylo is still very much a little boy in his mindset. He has angry outbursts and doesn't seem to be in control. In all honesty...it's sort of how Darth Vader acted like. Except unlike Kylo, Darth Vader had composure in his weaker moments.
Rey's history pre-The Force Awakens is a mystery. We don't know why she was left on Jakku nor who her parents are. We don't know if her and Kylo are related by blood. We don't know who she is and so I can't wait until the next movie comes out to answer those questions. Or not answer those questions because life hates me.

Rey becomes involved in a much bigger galaxy after running into BB-8. One evening she runs across the droid and becomes invested in his goal of getting back to his owner. During her search she runs into Finn who pretends to be a Rebel but turns out to be an ex-Stormtrooper who is also being thrown into a much bigger galaxy.

She is able to form a friendship with Han Solo and Chewbacca. She also turns out to have a very good idea of how machines work. Almost as if she could read their minds. Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker both had a keen sense of machinery. So if she turns out to be Luke's daughter I won't be surprised.

Rey also finds Anakin's lightsaber that reveals visions to her including what happened at Luke's Jedi Academy. Though we don't get anything in detail and there is still a lot that isn't known. Basically all that's revealed in the vision is that things went horribly wrong.
Eventually Rey is captured by Kylo Ren. Even though she is the one in chains, she appears to be the one with the most control. She is able to turn Kylo's torturing techniques against him and manages to mind control a Stormtrooper into freeing her.

This shows that she is strong with the Force and the physical world around her. She is able to get into situations and survive. She was able to survive on the harsh environment of Jakku and she does the same for every other environment she finds herself in.

After the fight with Kylo Ren ends with a draw, Rey eventually finds herself meeting Luke Skywalker. It is with him that she will start her training. It is there her strengths will be expanded upon and her connection with the Force will deepen.
When Kylo Ren first meets Rey, he is attracted to her. This could be because he remembers a past with her. The past he remembers could involve an old romance he had with her back at Luke Skywalker's failed Jedi Academy. As they would've been young it would have been in the innocent stages of a romance that could blossom once both were older. Or the past he remembers is that they are actually siblings and Kylo remembers while Rey doesn't.

Kylo could've also sensed her strong Force powers and figures she would make an excellent Knight of Ren because of it. To clarify: Kylo is not a Sith. The word Sith didn't seem to be uttered during The Force Awakens. At least pertaining to Kylo.

Finally, Kylo could've been attracted to Rey because the woman isn't bad looking.

The end fight scene of The Force Awakens shows a connection between the two. It is only after Kylo Ren's guidance that Rey is able to become stronger. If she decides to learn more from him she could become a much deadlier opponent. In the new Star Wars trailer Luke says that Rey's power is similar to Kylo's and it scares him. At least if the clips and voice overs aren't misleading. Which they might be.

Training with Kylo could make Rey connect to him even more emotionally. Love could easily consume the pairing then.
Both Kylo Ren and Rey are special cases. It is still to be revealed how exactly Snoke ended up with the Solo child under his command, but there must be a good reason. With how little Jedi and Sith were being used in The Force Awakens, it could be that Snoke seeks another way of connecting to the Force. It could be that Kylo being a Jedi switching to the Dark Side makes him unique.

With what we know about Rey, her being special is due to how strong she is in the Force. If Rey fully unleashes her powers it could be devastating for her enemies.

As I have stated numerous times: we don't know if Kylo Ren and Rey have met each other before The Force Awakens.

This means that this ship could be an incest ship. I know some people that will abandon Kylo Ren/Rey if it ends up being an incest ship, but I won't. In real life I am against incest but this the ship is fiction so I don't mind. However, I understand those who have a different point of view.

What will I talk about next Shipping Confessions? A mad queen and a queen that dances with madness.
