ALEX
It was more silent than a morgue in the car. I did my best to avoid looking at Saga or Jash. But I couldn't help giving either glances from time to time. The silence would have to end at some point but I didn't know how.
When I had seen Jash I should have just walked him back to the car. Maybe give him a deep kiss, at most. But what I had done instead had shown Saga a very nonprofessional side that she shouldn't have seen. Instead of thinking like a man I had let my **** guide my actions.
She should have stopped me from acting like a ******* idiot.
"It is ours to apologize, Saga." Jash said, his voice sounding odd coming from a woman's mouth. "The fact that I hadn't seen him in nine years doesn't justify my actions."
It was odd seeing him blush instead of how his Saxhleel body reacted to shame. He had no tail or crest to show his emotions. Instead he was limited to the simple act of blushing.
"I should have shown more restraint." I said. "When you walked by I should have stopped myself."
In my mind I had created numerous scenarios of how she would react and I would respond. All of them included her being upset but in none had I thought she would laugh. I nearly veered violently off the road and ended our lives when my partner began laughing manically.
I glanced back at Jash who looked just as confused as I did. Or maybe he hadn't yet gotten used to being human.
"I'm sorry, Alex." Saga said once she was able to get a hold of herself. "But I didn't expect any differently from how you talked about him."
Even though Saga was being entirely honest about the situation, I was ashamed. What **** had I turned my life into that she would think ******* Jash in the middle of the woods while we were on an investigation was something I would do?
"This won't happen again." I promised. "Even though it's been a long time since I saw Jash, I won't be ******* him every moment we're in Bright Falls."
"Because you've got it out of your system." Saga said and I let out a sigh.
If not for how much I respected her, I would've had strong words for her. But she was right as she was a lot of the time.
"I don't plan to return to Skyrim right away." Jash said. "This investigation seems important to my love."
"Will you be returning alone?" I asked and tried my best to keep the worry out of my voice.
"I hope not to but it is not ours to force you into a decision."
Good. I didn't want to live in a world where the Saxhleel was absent.
"Jash, as long as you keep your distance from us during the investigation there will be no problems." Saga said.
"I don't understand anything about this Earth." Jash agreed. "All of my knowledge would be useless even if I tried to help."
Before I had wanted to meet with Alan Wake to end the hell he had put me into. But now all I wanted to do was get this investigation over with quickly so I could start a new life with Jash.
"I tend to only use my first name but here I'll be using Telvanni as my second name." Jash said. "The other name was given to me by a man who wouldn't understand saying no to it. It is useful for political reasons in Skyrim and will now be useful in a place where it's common for people to have two names. At least I think two names are normal as you both have two names."
"Yeah, we have first and last names here." Saga said. "The last name is our father's side of the family. At least normally."
