Culture (Yeaflon)

Yeaflon have built their culture on fostering the young as well as taking care of Yeaflon at any age. Knowledge is the key to understanding the universe and the species does not want to lose their edge. The young learn that knowledge is both important and interesting so that they will seek further education as they live their long lives.

FTL Capability (Yeaflon)

Yeaflon have an innate sense of z-space. For whatever reason, that's how their species evolved. Able to sense things in z-space which means sensing someone in morph, though that ability is just being recognized.

Government (Yeaflon)

Yeaflon society is governed by a theocracy. In general, Yeaflon tend to be highly religious. The Andalites have their arrogance and the Yeaflon have their religion.

Society (Yeaflon)

Yeaflon, before all groups connected, only looked after each individual group. It's theorized that this is because Vulch was so harsh and the Yeaflon's intelligence, already high even in their younger years, found the most logical way to survive was to only care about one group. It wasn't good to waste resources for even more people.

Evolution (Yeaflon)

Vulch used to be a much harsher world and so the Yeaflon evolved to fit it.

History (Yeaflon)

The Yeaflon started off without a unifying society. There were different groups that tended not to interact unless they encountered different groups. Of utmost importance to each group was their own survival and not the survival of the entire species.

Vulch (Yeaflon)

Picture from HERE
Vulch is the homeworld of the Yeaflon. In its early days, when the species was just evolving, it was an extremely harsh environment. Many reasons the Yeaflon evolved like they did was to better survive on the planet.

Appearance (Yeaflon)

A Yeaflon is a humanoid avian so their bodies are a combination of the two basic species.

Personality (Yeaflon)

Yeaflon appear to be very stuck up to others. This tends to be because their language is hard to translate and so a funny joke might turn into something insulting or pompous. Yeaflon language tends to be highly precise and is able to get information out in a very short time.

Because of their own precise language, Yeaflon find other species' languages extremely lacking. They especially loathe the limits to explain their views on gender and sexuality in other languages. Yeaflon can change between three sexes and so their language reflects that.

Sometimes, though, Yeaflon are generally stuck up as they pride themselves on their bio-technology as well as their innate ability that helps them have a unique z-space navigation system.

Diet (Yeaflon)

Yeaflon are omnivores. Many have speculated that they evolved that way because Vulch was an extremely harsh environment.

However, they prefer meat and most Yeaflon tend to only change their diet when there is no meat. Or when hunting would drive certain animals to extinction.

Vegan Yeaflon are very rare, though they do exist.

Lifespan (Yeaflon)

The normal lifespan of a Yeaflon is 2,000 years. When a Yeaflon gets around 900 years old they aren't given another off planet mission and are usually called back to Vulch that they can teach the next generation. However, if the Yeaflon is already on an off planet mission when they're around 900 years old, they are allowed to finish it.

There are a few Yeaflon that have reached 5,000 years. They are a rarity, though.

Reproduction (Yeaflon)

Before reproduction of the Yeaflon species is discussed, there must be talk of the different sexes of the species. Yeaflon refer to themselves as 'fluid sex' since they can switch between the three different sexes of the species. While a species like humans or Hork-Bajir would be a 'static sex' as they can't switch between their different sexes except by surgery.

Natural Weapons/Special Abilities (Yeaflon)

The Yeaflon body is not a perfect killing machine, but it does provide the species with an advantage. Not just their natural weapons, but the special abilities the species has.

Language (Yeaflon)

Yeaflon language is extremely complex and hard to translate. There are three main dialects and learning even one of them is near impossible. Some think that due to their high intelligence, and how hard Vulch was to survive on in the beginning, helped to form the complex languages. As the Yeaflon usually have to translate to be understood, they usually appear very proper and unemotional. Because of translation issues it is easy for a Yeaflon to accidentally appear rude when that was never the intent.

If a Yeaflon wishes to learn another language they have to endlessly repeat phrases, words, and basic sounds. Once they do learn a language, none of their unique learning process can be detected.

Yeaflon (Table of Contents)

Place holder image
On an Animorphs roleplaying forums I made up (with the help of Felrik) a species called the Yeaflon. HERE and HERE are the original posts concerning the species and one of their members.

The point of the links below are to expand on the posts from the Animorphs roleplaying forums.
