Into the Darkness 8

I didn't know if hours passed or days or years. In this place time didn't seem to move like on the continent. The planet I called my home was far bigger and deadlier than anything I could've imagined. I didn't even think Rachel could hope to survive out here.

I was thinking Rachel wasn't fearless...I needed to get back to my clan. I had to find the continent so everything could go back to normal. So I could forget this place. But first I had to patch my wounds. Something that would've been more than easy with magic or easy access to herbs.

Into the Darkness 7

Below me was a herd of creatures that were deer-like. Their skin was a deep blue and they had no tail. They ran across the land with talons on their hind legs and hooves on their front. From my vantage point in the sky I could see two small hands sticking out of their chests.

Into the Darkness 6

It was as if I were flying for lifetimes where there was nothing but the sky around and the waters below. Water that hid dark secrets that I didn't want to imagine while the skies held terrors I had seen too much of. If only I could feel the Shadowbinder or the Lightweaver, then I could find a moment of hope.

Finally I saw ground below and I flew to see how far it extended. When my wings felt too worn I landed. With shaky legs I touched the ground. My claws opened and closed as I made sure the area around me was safe. Of course safe was the wrong term to use as dangers lurked everywhere.

Into the Darkness 5

I don't know how long I had been in this place, a place no legends spoke of. Only darkness consumed it and there was no hope for light. It wasn't complete dark, but the places that weren't pitch black were shadow. This place of demons had creatures that I didn't know how to tell any dragon about. That is if I managed to get back.

Into the Darkness 4

The fear in me was almost too great to bear and I wondered, again, why Vergere had chosen me to be a Yun-Harla. I was sure her and Gabar would have handled this situation more calmly. My reaction was to fly around for hours until I was finally able to calm down.

Into the Darkness 3

At first I tried flying away from the Arcane dragons. I was a master of flight and one of the best fliers in my clan. I might not be a renowned fighter, but my mastery of the skies was one of my greatest strengths. While I could fly well, these dragons knew the area much better than me. They knew all the secrets of this land and so I eventually had to fight.

Diving down I attempted to go under them and attack them that way. They figured out my plan quickly and started to send Mana Bolts towards me. I put up a shield around me as I flew up towards them and prepared to unleash my own attacks.

Into the Darkness 2

Flying always calmed me down. Something about being in the air was both thrilling and calming at the same time. With such a long flight there was much time for me to calm down. I was starting to feel confident again. I was starting to feel like Vergere actually had a reason to trust me.

When I had flown over the Plaguebringer's territory I was worried that I would be attacked. The dragons that served that deity were tougher than most. They had to be to survive. The deity was all about survival of the fittest which meant some very demented dragons were created.

Into the Darkness 1

"So you're really being trusted with this mission?" RachelBerenson sneered.

I held back my fear as I double checked what I would be bringing on this scouting mission. I was double and triple checking that I had enough herbs and food for my journey to and from the Starwood Strand.

Maybe I was being overly cautious as the mission wouldn't last that long and I had more than enough items to last. Shade, if I wanted to I could stay a couple more weeks than was needed. These were all things that Rachel had pointed out to me.
