The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)

I read the book that this movie is based off of. When I heard there was a movie version I just shook my head.

Title: The Time Traveler's Wife

Based on the book (of the same name) by: Audrey Niffenegge

Director: Robert Schwentke

Starring: Eric Bana, Rachel McAdams, and Ron Livingston

Rated: PG-13

Released: 2009

Rating: 2.5/5

Basic Plot: Henry DeTamble can time travel and forms a relationship with Clare Abshire.

Differences Between Book and Movie
Most things that are changed in the movie version are made to make it more watchable. The original book was really a mess of WTF moments. It was actually very hard to read for the first half (and for all the wrong reasons). Some of the things that are changed, though, make the movie a little less powerful than the book.

Henry and Clare as a Couple
In the book this was a really creepy relationship and in the movie it's a little less creepy (while still retaining a little of the creepy factor). If you look outside of the creepy factor, the fact is that there is zero tension. What makes it even worse is that this is the thing that the movie focuses on and that's not good when you don't care about the relationship (because you know it'll work out in the end). Sort of like Aria and Ezra in Pretty Little Liars (minus the time travel) where you have no doubt that they'll always be together.

Time Travel
In both the movie and the book Henry is able to time travel (at random) because he has a gene that allows him to. While this isn't believable, it shows some attempt to make the time travel science fiction and not fantasy. I admit it is cheesy but it's an excuse for some science fiction mumbo jumbo.

Final Thoughts
This movie is very bland. While the time travel is an interesting twist, it's a gimmick that isn't very interesting after awhile. If it was a choice between the book and the movie, I'd recommend the movie. The lack of tension is really bad for any form of fiction and it's what makes this a movie that you should only rent.

S&N: The Change 2

I looked at Samara and grinned wildly at her and then focused on the outpost. There was one main building in the forest and vehicles parked around it. M-2s were walking around. These M-2s looked like humans but skin and bones were replaced with metal. I thought they looked a little like Terminators but somehow they were even more unsettling.

"Damn they look creepy." I told Samara.

"Yes, Machines without even human skin covering." She replied. "But the M-3s are supposed to change that."

"I thought that the M-3s were just rumors."

"Let's hope so." Samara said and raised her gun. I raised mine and nodded at her.

We ran as a team and soon drew attention of the M-2s. I got to fire the first shot in this 'battle' and shouted in glee as I took aim at another M-2. After what seemed like hours, Samara and I were no closer to winning than we had been in the beginning.

Of course, winning wasn't the whole point of this. If it had been, there would probably be a few teams put together or at least more than two people. The point of this mission was to cause chaos in The Net. It didn't make this mission any easier, though. I dodged a bullet as it grazed my hair and then returned fire.

I saw that Samara was running into some trouble of her own and so I tried to help as best I could. This became harder after a few seconds and I was forced to focus on fighting the M-2s on my own again.

"First one back to the car gets to be on top!" I yelled and made sure that Samara was by me. But she wasn't. "Samara! Samara! Shit."

I started firing wildly to give me time to find her. An M-2 swung its arm at me and I dodged its swing. A few seconds later a human shot at me. I shot at the man's kneecap and he went down. I didn't like to kill if I didn't have to. I wasn't a Machine.

Running around the 'battlefield' I ran by an SUV and it exploded because it had been shot at, possibly by an M-2. I was sent flying through the air as sound and metal followed me. I yelled out as I landed and a piece of metal stabbed me through the heart.

The pain didn't start out great and I hardly felt any pain. What I did feel was blood pouring out of me. The sounds of fighting didn't seem that important to me because I was somewhere else. I was somewhere that defied pain and fear.

I smiled at the sounds and could faintly tell that Samara was still fighting. "Samara!" I yelled out and waved. Whether she saw me or not wasn't something I was thinking about at the moment.

Extras (Part 4)

Even more bloopers with me getting VERY hyper at certain points.

Space Shuttle Launch and Traffic

The NFL Draft is tonight but I don't know much about football. So anything I'd have to say on that subject would be total bullshit.

However, the Space Shuttle launch is tomorrow. I live in Florida so this is a big deal (besides me being a total nerd). Mind you I don't live by Kennedy Space Center but I will be driving to that area tomorrow.

I will not be driving to see the Space Shuttle launch, however I will be driving to see my boyfriend for dinner. So there is one problem that will probably pop up: the traffic.

Now Space Shuttle launches are great things, but there are some people that won't be going to them and will still be in the area. That is where the traffic becomes a big problem. People who are going to the launch should expect lots of traffic but some people won't be going to that event. Hell, some people will probably not care about it (poor non-nerds).

So, for those people, traffic will be a problem that will just ruin their day. Hopefully, though, Dad (who is the one who will be driving and setting up the driving plan) will find a safe way that will avoid most of the traffic.

Conversations

Conversations I am yelling now
Pouring my heart out to you
Telling you the problems I have
Telling you things you don't want to hear
But I'll never tell you them
You wouldn't hear one word
You'd just hear that you're wrong
And then say that I'm wrong
So I'll just yell at the walls
Because at least they'll pretend to care
