Sayings Sundays (October 5, 2014)

How to Get Away with Murder is a new show dealing with defense lawyers in training along with their teacher. You see people doing bad things to get their job done but I wouldn't say the show glorifies this due to the flashfowards.

Guess what show returns next month? Yep, The Walking Dead. A show about zombies that is much more about the characters than the actual zombies.

Sayings Sundays (July 20, 2014)

I have gotten into a new series that airs on HBO. This series didn't start revving up until the third episode which starred Christopher Eccleston in the main role of the episode. My Whovian readers should recognize him from his role as the 9th Doctor on Doctor Who.

The whole series, to me at least, focuses on how people react to an insane situation and so the characters come first. In the Pilot episode people were randomly taken away because...well, we don't know that right now. And, really, I'd be happy never knowing. I'd love it if it was just a random event and there was no explanation.

Eccleston's character, Matt Jamison, is looking up information about everyone who was taken. He is trying to show others that the people taken weren't all good people. So I chose a quote relating to that today. In it Matt explains why he is doing what he's doing even though people sometimes get physically violent to him because of it.

I've listened to "Taken by the Sea" numerous times and have come to the conclusion that it's my anthem for Marco/Tobias (non-canon ship from the Animorphs series by K.A.Applegate). I don't know if there's any ship I've had that I've come to the conclusion of their theme so easily.

I see this song as Post-War and being sung by Tobias. He's at the point where he's afraid to love again and yet he finds himself growing more in love with Marco with each passing moment. Those who have been following this blog know that I have a headcanon of him and Marco not seeing each other for awhile because of this fear (from both boys).

I would have had both characters in this graphic, but I don't have the ability to take things from two pictures and put them together at the moment.

Sayings Sundays (June 29, 2014)

How To Train Your Dragon 2 was an awesome film. It greatly expanded the mythology from the first movie and gave us a more epic story. There were even moments where I, person who does not cry during movies, started to tear up. If I was watching the movie alone I might've screamed and yelled in pain during a certain part.

For this week I decided on this quote from the movie since the mother does play a large role in the movie. Besides other things, it is through her that Hiccup learns more about dragons than he did in the first movie.

The lyrics of the song "All Fall Down" by OneRepublic gave me a little headache trying to figure out who they should be about. I also had to decide knowing I am crap at graphics so I couldn't have the whole group of Animorphs.

So I chose Jake and these specific lyrics for him.

"Love till you hate" refers to his failed relationship with Cassie. It shows that he changed too much during the war even though he did, and still does, love Cassie.

"Strong till you break" refers to him feeling too burdened by the war. Near the end he even stopped being the leader for a short time.

"Know that we all fall down" refers to the fact that Jake knows he isn't the only one with crushing weaknesses.

I hope the graphic appears scary and/or disturbing to you.

Sayings Sundays (June 22, 2014)

Recently another Godzilla movie was made. It advertised Bryan Cranston heavily while the actor doesn't appear that much in the movie.

One of the problems I have about the movie is that it's too artistic for its own good. Instead of giving us a lot of monster on monster action, some of the fight scenes are cut short.

I chose this quote because it both talks about a main point in the movie as well as one of my favorite things in sci-fi: the fact that people think they can control things they really can't and so things go to Hell very quickly.

Firefly is a great series that was cancelled early. And the theme song is one I can put on repeat for hours and hours and hours. While listening to the theme song I noticed that it would be perfect for a certain character's theme song.

Which character? Tobias Fangor!

Just the line "you can't take the sky from me" just seems like a very Tobias thing to say. Flying is one of the things that he takes joy in even though he's trapped as a hawk. You can take everything away from him, but he can still fly.

I might do something more with this idea at a later time.

Sayings Sundays (June 8, 2014)

The Normal Heart is a wonderful movie (based on the play by Larry Kramer) about a gay activist during the start of the AIDS outbreak. By wonderful I mean totally heartbreaking. It follows Ned's relationship with Felix as he tries to deal with the AIDS outbreak. This includes trying to bring attention to the seriousness of the disease as everyone in power turns a blind eye.

I would highly recommend you see this movie and I'd recommend the play if I had seen/read it. But that might be in the future if I can deal with all the heartbreak again.

I chose this quote as it's one of the things this movie is about: acceptance of the gay community since they are normal people and normal people love.

I was listening to "I Forgive You" by Kelly Clarkson and the line 'we were just a couple of kids' stuck out to me. I knew I would have to relate it to Animorphs but I didn't know how.

Then it occurred to me it could be a nice Jake/Cassie (aka Cake) song talking about their lives after the war.

After the war Jake and Cassie aren't together. They had both changed so much that they couldn't be together. I chose the lyrics to show that Cassie forgives Jake for all the fucked up things he did during the war and that she forgives herself for not being as moral as she should've been. But she finds that forgiving both of them doesn't make her feel any better.

Cassie also thinks there were some bad things they both did during the war because they were kids. They were thirteen when the war started, so of course they would make mistakes that even adults would have trouble avoiding.

Sayings Sundays (June 1, 2014)

Revolution was recently cancelled. It was about a group of people living after the apocalypse which was caused by nanobots making electric power impossible. The journey with the main group of characters goes from fighting against Monroe to fighting against a group called the Patriots to realizing that the nanobots are bad and with a third season we would've seen more evil nanobots trying to take over the world.

The ending of Season 2 was a big cliffhanger and I'm mourning the fact that we'll never know for certain what will happen next.

This quote is from Charlie and I chose it to show off some of her sass.

Here is a nice sad graphic for today to combat the funny sass from the other graphic.

For awhile now "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor has been a good go to for a sadness song that fits a lot of fandoms. Especially the heartbreaking ones.

The Animorphs series is a series aimed for children that's actually pretty adult in certain themes like the moral grey area and the effects of fighting a war. So it fits that one of the main characters dies. Specifically Rachel.

Tobias and Rachel were a huge item and so Tobias ends up going into a big depression after the war. He ends up living in the wilderness as a hawk. So I figured to use those lyrics and a picture of a red-tailed hawk. I would've used a picture of Rachel but the lyrics are from Tobias' point of view.

Sayings Sundays (May 25, 2014)

The second season of NBC's Hannibal ended last Friday. And with the finale came another throwback to the Hannibal books by Thomas Harris. Yes, I know, the tv series has lots of easter eggs for long-time Hannibal fans to munch on. So this isn't exactly the first time it's happened.

This time a conversation between Hannibal and Will was eerily similar to one Hannibal and Clarice had in the book (and movie) Hannibal.

On a Theory of a Deadman binge I ran into this song. It is catchy as hell and one I don't mind being on repeat.

It also reminded me of Loki from The Avengers. Now I'm not a big Loki fan and I don't kneel at the mere mention of his name. But I really do feel that the song suits him.

Loki is a villain and yet he has legions of fangirls that, at times, seem to prefer him over the actual heroes. So I can't help but listen to this song and think of Loki.

Sayings Sundays (May 11, 2014)

Animorphs is a very dark children's series. It deals with topics such as that people on the opposing side aren't all evil, children changing due to the war and not always for the better, and the David Trilogy just to name a few.

But this was a children's series so there were also little gems like this in there to lighten the mood from time to time.

So I was watching a few Supernatural fanvids one day and came across one that dealt with Sam and had a nice song. I listened to the song about...never you mind how many times and each time I thought of Bruce Banner.

The song is Monster by Imagine Dragons and I HIGHLY suggest you give yourself a few hours to listen to it on repeat.

I think of Bruce Banner because he LITERALLY deals with a monster inside of him and LITERALLY deals with the possibility of becoming a monster at any given time. I chose the lyrics for this graphic because it's Bruce asking if the listener would accept him once they knew that he could turn into the Hulk and that he doesn't like that's what he is.

Sorry for it to be covered in words, but it was hard limiting myself to just the lyrics shown this time around.

Sayings Sundays (May 4, 2014)

And here is yet another Hannibal quote. Is it becoming even clearer that I just love this show?

This quote talks about Hannibal Lecter who is the killer that everyone is looking for. Hannibal has the ability to hide right under your nose without you suspecting a thing. I cut out the part of the quote where Gideon says that Will will have to kill Hannibal as capturing the killer won't do the trick.

I'm posting this quote, instead of a Star Wars one, today because I've seen the show get a shitload of unfounded hate recently.

I've recently run into a Kelly Clarkson song called "Honestly". It is a nice, slow, and emotive song. It has a lot of emotion but none of the song jumps out at you with a loud volume. I would highly suggest giving it a listen to.

I chose these lyrics and the show Revolution due to this week's episode. At the very end of last episode, Charlie is given no choice but to kill Jason. In this week's episode she has to tell Tom and it ends with her begging him for death while he was the first to offer death to her.

This was a heartbreaking scene as neither character sees eye to eye but it took the death of Jason to give them an inkling of connection. Their pain over Jason's death is such a shared experience that it makes the scene even more powerful than it already was.

Sayings Sundays (April 27, 2014)

Captain America (aka Steve Rogers) is a good character which makes it easy for people to misread him. People think that he's weak and/or that there is not much to him. Even a slight glance at the character shows that he can make jokes and that he's anything but weak.

Steve just makes calls that others can't or won't and so is sometimes at odds at what you, the audience, are used to seeing in a character.

In the first Captain America movie Steve starts out as a normal person. He's a guy that wants to do good even though he's physically weak. Before he is given the serum to be turned into Captain America he is told the above quote.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier I think this quote is important to remember since Steve is trying to adapt to his new life.

I was listening to some random songs when I came across one by Lindsey Stirling with vocals by Lzzy Hale called Shatter Me. This song has a very catchy beat to it and Lzzy Hale does an awesome job with the vocals. Lindsey Stirling has done some other great work before and I suggest you look her up.

I chose a picture of Derek Reese from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles to go along with these lyrics. Derek is a tortured soul who is trying to find purpose in a life that now includes no Kyle Reese and him having to live in a different time.

Derek's new life also includes the sub-plot where his girlfriend time travels and he has to deal with working alongside a Terminator (aka Cameron).

Sayings Sundays (April 20, 2014)

I love the tv series Hannibal. It is my favorite show airing right now and more than deserves to run its intended number of seasons. The main character is Will Graham. I have talked about the series in a previous Sayings Sundays so I won't waste your time now.

I chose this quote from the show because it reminded me of Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Yeah, that's really the sole reason I decided to make this graphic.

Plus I don't like therapists either.

Here is yet another song that I have become obsessed with. I randomly found it and have grown to love it.

The theme of the song is basically renewal. Something bad has happened and the narrator is coming clean.

For this week, I have related it to Will Graham as in the current season of the show he is going through a period of renewal. He is going through a period of finding out who he really is and that's not easy. Especially when you have to watch out for a cannibal and making sure the cannibal is finally put in his place.

Sayings Sundays (April 13, 2014)

The Avengers is a superb film. It makes me laugh and cry in equal measures. Joss Whedon gives it his best with giving every character time to shine. That's very hard to do with such a large cast like in this movie.

My favorite character is Bruce Banner, hands down. No questions asked. I just see myself in him and I have to give thanks to Mark Ruffalo for finally turning my interest to the character. He really does make the character shine more than any other actor that has portrayed him in the past.

One of the things that's asked throughout the movie is how Bruce has it so that the Hulk (aka the other guy) doesn't come out every other second. I admit I chose this quote so I didn't have to use the cliche "That's my secret" line and plus "huge bag of weed" was included here.

Why, yes, I am childish.

Yeah, today is a very Brucey Sunday.

Anyways...this song is one I like a lot. It's about how your life may be hard but someone always has it worse. That somebody out there is always going to be jealous of your life, even if you can't see why.

I see Tony Stark reassuring Bruce Banner like this. He would tell Bruce that he should live since he still has a good life to live. That he shouldn't give up now.

Sayings Sundays (March 23, 2014)

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is one of those shows that deserved so much more than it got. It only got two seasons when it deserved so much more. It is one of the big reasons I became a Terminator fan.

The show follows the adventures of Sarah Connor, John Connor, Cameron, and Derek Reese as they try to stop Judgement Day from happening. It's the one non-James Cameron pieces in the franchise that is adored by the majority of Terminator fans.

The quote I chose this week is said by Derek Reese about Cameron (aka the good Terminator of the series, except for one episode). Throughout the majority of the series the two are at odds. It is most likely that Cameron is the Terminator that tortured him in the future and so he hates her. Also is the fact that he generally loathes Terminators in general.

Hey, he's a fighter of the Resistance so that mindset is to be expected.

And here is another Within Temptation song. Hey, they're a good group so expect more of their songs in the future.

When I heard the song 'Iron' I thought that it matched Rachel. The song is basically the singer talking to a person who needs to fight and can't change the fact. That's Rachel.

Rachel, of course, being from the Animorphs series by K.A.Applegate.

Many people confuse Rachel as just someone who loves bloodshed and can't live without the war with the Yeerks. What they often forget is that many times throughout the series she questions herself. She doesn't just fight without thinking, she fights and questions how much she has changed.

I think this song fits her perfectly for that aspect.

Sayings Sundays (March 16, 2014)

The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth is a very well done series. Even though I don't like Allegiant as much as the other ones, that one takes a huge risk and I applaud it. Though I did guess the certain event that would most likely happen half-way through the book so I wasn't as broken like I was by the ending of Mockingjay or Cujo.

Throughout the trilogy there are many twists and turns. Good guys become bad and bad guys gain some humanity that they didn't before.

The society is broken into different factions that are based on values that each faction believes are the way to achieve peace.

The Candor believe in complete and total honesty. They believe that one lie is just as bad as any other.

Tris learns some haunting things in Insurgent so it's no wonder why she'd question the positives of knowing the truth.

I watch the show Pretty Little Liars and looked up this song because of it. I won't say how many times I've listened to it so you can continue to believe I'm someone you can trust.

The upbeat tone to the song is great and Ingrid Michaelson has a very nice voice.

The image I chose to use is of my ultimate OTP: Science Husbands (aka a sexual/romantic relationship between Bruce Banner and Tony Stark)!

I chose the first line in the graphic because both Tony and Bruce have things that they are ashamed of but shouldn't be. Bruce's thing is the other guy (aka the Hulk) harming people when Bruce can't control him. Tony's thing, among other things, is the whole incident in how he started to build the Iron Man suit including a guy sacrificing his life for him.

Both have become more than their faults and each wants to remind the other of that fact.

Sayings Sundays (March 9, 2014)

Animorphs was my biggest fandom. I have not gotten really obsessed with a series like I did with Animorphs (Star Wars might give it a run for its money, though).

I didn't pay attention to anything Animorphs related for years but a few things stuck with me through my long hiatus from the series. One of those things is the most haunting line from the series I can remember.

It is said at the end of #6 The Capture and you only grasp its full importance in #26 The Attack. It is said by who you find out to be the devil like creature in the Animorphs Universe: Crayak.

That is why I chose this quote.

My guilty pleasure in music is Taylor Swift. Whenever I'm down I can listen to her and get all happy again. Well...at least slightly less down than I was before.

I don't mind who she is as a person since her music manages to brighten any of my cloudy days.

So why do I have a picture of Bruce Banner/The Hulk along with this quote?

In the latest chapter of my erotica Mean Green Shagging Machine the Taylor Swift song Enchanted helped me write a good chunk of it. I'm not saying Swift always puts me in the mood, but she sure does help at times.

Sayings Sundays (March 2, 2014)

Almost Human is a great show. It stars Karl Urban as John Kennex and J.H. Wyman (who was a big part of Fringe especially during the final season) heads it.

Besides those two things: one of the highlights of the series is the relationship between Kennex and Dorian.

Whether you ship them together or not: the fact is that they work well off of each other and it's a lovely dynamic to behold. Kennex doesn't like robots and will take jabs at Dorian at any opportunity. Don't worry, though, as Dorian is more than ready to have a battle of wits with Kennex at a moment's notice.

That is why I chose this quote.

I have to thank my friend Crysy for bringing the band Within Temptation to my attention. One of their songs that I'm really into at the moment is Paradise (What About Us?) that has Tarja Turunen guest starring in the song.

It is just a very good song to hear.

I chose a picture of the Animorphs since they are a group that is supposed to save the world from the Yeerks (invading alien species of the series). You expect them to be heroes and for there to be a difference between them and the Yeerks.

In other words: you expect the heroes to be good and the villains to be evil.

But the series show them all tainting themselves since they are fighting a war. Even Jake, the leader who should be the shining star of pureness, crosses lines that he wouldn't have crossed in the beginning.

Sayings Sundays (February 23, 2014)

The NBC show Hannibal is my favorite thing that's airing at the moment. I love everything about the show.

The main character is Will Graham who has the ability to empathize with anyone and uses that ability to help the police catch killers. Will is haunted by this ability since he can truly feel like a killer. The scenes where you see how Will gets into the mind of the killer you see him imagining himself as the killer.

Every murder he investigates, he can see himself doing it since he can empathize with others so much. That makes those scenes even more creepy.

I chose this quote to showcase Will Graham's gift and curse.

One of the songs that I'm liking recently is Human by Christina Perri. I'm not a big music person and that's why I don't review songs.

I mean if I started to review music everything would add up to: It's got a good beat. I could dance to it.

When I heard this song, well after the third or fourth time while I was marathoning it, I thought it fit my ship of John Kennex and Dorian from Almost Human (yes, I am planning to discuss it in Shipping Confessions).

I am even imaging of doing a music video of this pairing and with this song.

Besides my ship: it's just a lovely song.

The way I did the quote for the picture was as a sort of storyboard for the video I may do in the future. The quote by John Kennex (guy on the left) is identifying John as a human while Dorian's quote identifies him as a robot.
