There Shouldn't Be a Harry Potter Reboot

Harry Potter used to be a household name. Everyone talked about what their House was and wished for their letter to Hogwarts. Book and movie releases were a big deal. Everyone got swept up in the franchise all about a boy wizard. The queer community, especially, saw themselves in the Boy Who Lived.

So what changed? JK Rowling came out as a transphobe which made her no longer popular. She can't exactly continue with the saintly image any more.

This means any new edition to the Harry Potter franchise won't be destined for success.

Fixing Severus Snape

My favorite character in Harry Potter is Severus Snape. To me he is the perfect combination of good and evil. The good doesn't make up for his sins while his evil acts don't make him irredeemable. It's also fascinating to see people in the fandom be completely divided on him as they focus on only one aspect of his character.

Albus Dumbledore has done many horrifying things but the fandom, for the most part, adores the character to the point of thinking of him as a saint. This shows that Snape's character arc, while I love it, was done wrong. The majority of the fandom should have hated Snape but eventually learned to love him.

With this post I will show a few different ways that his character could have been changed so the majority of the fandom would love him.

Hogwarts Legacy Deserved Little Attention

Harry Potter used to be extremely popular. The fandom had a very diverse fanbase with some making the characters outwardly LGBTQ+. Something that the actual series never did. It was even believed that J.K. Rowling was a good person, though she made mistakes that allies make from time to time.

But then she came out as a trans-exclusionary radical feminist (terf) and things only got worse from there. So when Hogwarts Legacy was announced, it was instantly a controversial topic. Some people did reasonable things and others...well...they went far beyond the limits of sanity.

Myself, I don't believe in giving Terfing any money. Plus I don't have the hand control necessary to play the game. So I watched a playthrough of it.

Tarot Deck: Fandom Edition

I like to keep my spiritual side off of this blog as that's not what this place is about. This blog is about dissecting and celebrating different shows, movies, ect. So making a post that has to do about tarot wouldn't make sense.

However, if I were to combine tarot and fandoms I'm in the post would fit. Hence this post. This was partially inspired by me thinking about making a tarot deck of my fandoms and my disappointment about the Game of Thrones tarot deck. The latter had the Moondoor on The Moon card.

I will provide minor explanations about different parts of the tarot deck, but I'm not expecting some explanations to be useful to the newcomer. So if you're interested in doing tarot, you'll need to do your own research.

Why Tobias is a Hufflepuff

The topic of this post was voted on by the members of my Facebook group HERE WE STAND. If you would like to vote on future posts, feel free to join.

UPDATE: I COULDN'T RECALL EXACTLY WHERE I HAD HEARD THAT HUFFLEPUFFS ARE GOOD FINDERS. I THOUGHT IT WAS CANON UNTIL SOMEONE POINTED OUT IT WASN'T AND I FOUND THE TRUE SOURCE OF THAT ATTRIBUTE. IT COMES FROM THE FAN-MADE A VERY POTTER MUSICAL. I STRANGELY HAVE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE AND YET KNEW THAT PART...

Two series that I adore are Animorphs and Harry Potter. So I, being me, had to combine both series. This time by thinking of which Animorph belonged in which Hogwarts Houses. Some of the Animorphs were easy to place while others were a little more difficult.

Tobias, for me, was rather easy to place. To me he always belonged in Hufflepuff.

Snape: The Bravest Man

This is probably my second or third post defending Severus Snape. The other two are on my main tumblr (link found on the side bar thingy of this blog). I guess I just hate Snape hate because it reduces a highly complex character to his negative traits.

Is Snape a saint? No, but he is not the devil a lot of people make him out to be either.

Shipping Confessions: Luna/Harry (Harry Potter)

Harry Potter is a series I highly enjoy. Even though it does have its problems, I will continue going back to it time and again. It treats children as adults and shows them that friendship is very important. Even though good doesn't always have such a happy ending, it is nice to see a happy ending every now and again.

Harry Potter is about the title character going through trials, tribulations, and helping to defeat Lord Voldemort. The majority of the series focuses on the wizard school of Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011)

Title: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Series: Harry Potter

Based on the Book: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Author: J.K.Rowling

Director: David Yates

Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint

Rated: PG-13

Released: 2011

Rating: 4.5/5

Oscars: N/A

Basic Plot: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley complete their mission of finding Voldemort's horcruxes which leads to Hogwarts coming under attack.

The Pacing of the Movie
In terms of keeping my interest, this movie does it the best. There was not one moment that I wasn't entranced in the movie. Yes, there are a few slow parts but they are few and far inbetween. Part of which leads to this fast pacing is the fact that Part 1 (and the rest of the series) help the audience prepare for this movie.

Loyalty to the Book
There were some changes from the book that I didn't like (why the Elder Wand was destroyed and the leaving out of the subplot where Harry Potter doesn't trust Dumbledore). However, it is still an enjoyable film even while looking at what was left out or changed.

Death Count in this Movie Goes Way Up
This Harry Potter film takes the cake for death counts. In Gringotts six or seven intelligent magical beings die. Go on to Hogwarts and the death count is raised even more. While that might sound depressing, a bunch of deaths aren't showed on screen. However, I still wouldn't take a little kid to see this movie.

Final Thoughts
I highly enjoyed this movie and was sad to see it end after all this time. There are a bunch of twists and turns in this movie that are very intriguing. One of these twists is about Severus Snape (which explains why he is my favorite character in the series). If you aren't a Harry Potter fan (or haven't seen any of the other movies) this movie probably won't be as good to you. This is due to the fact that the movie hardly takes any time to fill new people in to what is happening.

Problems with HP7 Part 2 (jashycam 27)

While I enjoyed the movie, I found two main problems with it.

If that version does not work, try this one:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Trailer

This trailer looks awesome and looks like it's going to give the Battle of Hogwarts all that it deserves. Action, action, and more action! There were a few bits of the trailer that weren't from the book but they made the trailer look even more cool.

I've read all the Harry Potter books more than once, so I am highly biased about this trailer. I know how it ends so the enticement of seeing how it ends isn't affecting me at all.

But, surprisingly, I am now more pumped up than ever to see this movie. So this trailer managed to make me want to see this movie right now when I've already read the final book in the series four to five times so far. This trailer sure as Hell did something right.

Odd Fanfiction Pairings

I stay away from fanfiction the majority of the time. Why? Because most people will either be in their own little world and others will just not get what the characters are really about. One thing about fanfiction, that I know without reading that much, is the pairings. Now some pairings are cannon or make some sense. But the good majority of pairings put two people together that wouldn't go together.

Here are a few that I have encountered:

Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter or Hermione Granger (from the Harry Potter series)

Love him or hate him (I hate), Draco Malfoy is all about pure bloods and the return of Voldemort. Even when Malfoy realizes that the Dark Arts aren't what he thought they were, he doesn't go over to the good side.

Harry Potter is the savior of the wizarding world. He is the opposite of Malfoy. Nothing in the books seem to suggest that they would become a couple. But I don't mind it that much and tend to laugh it off.

Hermione Granger was born from two muggles (non-wizards). A crude word to describe her would be mudblood. As I stated before, Malfoy is about pure bloods and hates mudbloods and blood traitors with a passion. The fact of Hermione being a mudblood alone keeps Malfoy away from her. It just seems like their relationship would be too much of a stretch.

Sarah Connor and Derek Reese (from the Terminator series, TSCC)

This is one pairing I agree with. I watched Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and saw so many little things. Their relationship, though, seems to be full of harassing the other. Sarah Connor doesn't trust many people and so their relationship wasn't in full swing because of that. Plus the fact that Derek is Kyle's brother and Derek isn't Kyle.

One of the first things that Derek says to Sarah is that she looks good. Derek is a soldier of the Resistance and one of the best. He doesn't just take orders, he gives them.

Sadly Derek died and so a possible romantic relationship between the two was gone. For those necrophiliacs out there: he was burned and turned into ashes before being buried.

Sarah Connor and Cameron (from the Terminator series, TSCC)
Sarah Connor is against machines and she hates them (another similarity she shares with Derek Reese). In Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles she only stands Cameron because she protects them. When Cameron's chip gets damaged she has no qualms about killing her. The only one against destroying Cameron is John Connor.

So Sarah Connor is not a very good match for Cameron. Something that people seem to miss about this pairing is that Cameron is, above all else, a machine. Yes, she seems to grow more human but her way of thinking is completely different from ours. The only reason, I think, that Cameron likes John is because she was sent on a mission to infiltrate and part of that programming probably came back to bite her in the ass (stop thinking about biting Summer Glau's ass! ). And even Cameron admits that her programming to kill him is still there.

For those that like femslash (what I assume means two girls getting it on) I can get the pairing. Two good looking women getting it on. The only problem comes with making Cameron have too much human emotions. In one fanfic I read she gets oversensitive physical feelings and that turns her into a lesbian.

So those are my opinions on some of the pairings that I have come across. Will I read more fanfiction? Probably not. Please don't send me fanfiction.

Hope everyone is having a great Valentine's Day!
