There Shouldn't Be a Harry Potter Reboot

Harry Potter used to be a household name. Everyone talked about what their House was and wished for their letter to Hogwarts. Book and movie releases were a big deal. Everyone got swept up in the franchise all about a boy wizard. The queer community, especially, saw themselves in the Boy Who Lived.

So what changed? JK Rowling came out as a transphobe which made her no longer popular. She can't exactly continue with the saintly image any more.

This means any new edition to the Harry Potter franchise won't be destined for success.
J.K. Rowling is Largely Hated

J.K. Rowling used to be regarded as a kind person. A classic rags to riches case. But now opinions of her are not positive. And many don't look highly on those that would defend her.

I am agender and so have strong opinions on her. I don't care if people don't understand my gender identity, I just care that they respect me as a person. But her, and others like her, would gladly demonize me for simply existing.

Since Rowling has such a large fanbase, she's able to push very harmful views to the masses. Views that will greatly harm trans and non-binary people. It's 2023 and the world shouldn't still be so uncaring to people like me.

This means that J.K.Rowling's name will push people away from the reboot. Those that tune in because of her name will be much smaller in comparison.
The Original Movies Are Considered Classics

If I was asked to direct a remake, reboot, or adaptation I would refuse. This is true especially when one of those movies/shows are considered classics. Most will ask why do something again if it worked the first time.

And, yes, I consider the Harry Potter movies to be classics as they are very beloved by people that grew up with them. Even I get happy thinking about them, no matter their various faults.

Now even though it's unlikely people will like a reboot, it can be done. The thing though is...it takes a lot for people to love a remake or reboot.

So a lot of potential viewers will tune out due to the fact the show is a reboot of the series.
The New Actors Will Be Sent a Lot of Hate From 'Fans'

Sometimes people are...just weird. If a character does something horrible people will blame the actors. People won't watch an actor if, in the past, they took on a role purely because it would promise better roles in the future. With Rowling revealed as a horrible person, people are sure to take out their anger on innocent actors.

Such as some actors might not have much choices in terms of roles. They might see a role in a Harry Potter television series as a launching point of their career. Fifty Shades of Grey is no work of art, but Dakota Johnson became a household name because of that series. Now she is able to show her value as an actor since she suffered those movies.

And the main actors will be children. Children who, more than most, don't deserve that hatred thrown at them. Think of Jake Lloyd who was bullied out of acting due to him playing Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
