The Hunt (Mini-Review)

The Hunt is a movie about a group of Republicans waking up in a field with no idea how they got there. They quickly find out there are people trying to kill them and so must fight to survive. It was released in March of 2020 after being delayed for months due to a controversy surrounding it. It stars Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, and Ike Barinholtz. It was directed by Craig Zobel.

This movie was, in short, awesome. From beginning to end there was action and gore galore. Plus the film managed to balance a serious tone with a more than hilarious side. I am glad that the movie was able to balance itself because it wouldn't have worked otherwise. The actors seemed well aware that they didn't always have to be serious and even appeared to have fun with certain lines.

I am sure a lot of you are wondering whether this is a Pro-Republican or Pro-Democrat film. Without spoiling anything, one side is not shown to be better than the other. The film's core message is to not assume things about people just because you think you know them. It's a message in this day and age that needs to be followed more. Because of how fast information can move due to the internet, we really do need to stop and consider before we react to something.

I am sure a lot of you are wondering whether or not this film lived up to its controversy. The thing is...some Republicans totally misread the first trailer as saying the movie was Anti-Republican. So if you're a Republican looking to be outraged on behalf of your party, you should just wait until you can stream this movie for free.

Due to Covid-19 and having to stay inside, I couldn't see this movie in theaters and was more than delighted when it was available on streaming.

I would recommend The Hunt to those who don't mind a little violence mixed in with their comedy.
