Alloran Through the Ages

War Prince Alloran-Semitur-Corrass is a character I love, hate, admire, and loathe all in equal measure. His points of views are both twisted and understandable. Through the course of the series he serves Prince Seerow, is dishonored for his actions on the Hork-Bajir homeworld, is the host of Esplin 9466, and is finally freed.

His evolution as a character is one of the reasons I enjoy him. So let's take a look at his history and briefly speculate on what happens after the Yeerk Invasion of Earth.
Before Being a Controller

When we first meet Alloran he is a very loyal Andalite. You can tell very quickly that he has been indoctrinated into his species' worldview. The first time we see him he is yelling at Seerow for letting the Yeerks escape. He is the first of many to blame the Prince for the Yeerks going violent.

The truth is that it was a collective effort to make the Yeerks turn violent. There are also theories about how the Yeerks who first turned violent had overridden the rules set down by the Council of Thirten (the governing body of the Yeerks).

It is also safe to say that the majority of the Andalites never treated the Yeerks as kindly as Seerow did. This would make the Yeerks see a race that was arrogant and deserved to be taken down.

But Seerow was blamed for everything because Andalites, man.
The next time we see Alloran, now a War Prince, he is one of the first to come to  Aldrea-Iskillion-Falan (daughter of Prince Seerow) and Dak Hamee's (Hork-Bajir Seer) call for help. Aldrea had sent a signal to the Andalites about the Yeerks invading the Hork-Bajir homeworld. The Yeerks were doing so as the they found the Hork-Bajir as very effective shock troops.
The war to kick the Yeerks off the Hork-Bajir homeworld seemed to be a useless struggle. There were always more Yeerks with more hosts. Every victory seemed meaningless. What did it matter if you won battles just to lose the war?

Alloran had become tired of the fighting and was thinking of home. Thinking of his wife Jahar. He decided that since the war was lost anyways, he would sacrifice Hork-Bajir just so that he could win and go back home. He decided to make a quantum virus that would only target Hork-Bajir so that all of them would die.

Aldrea and Dak found the truth out and tried to stop it. However, events didn't work out in their favor and the virus was released. Even though the virus was released the Yeerks were still able to get Hork-Bajir hosts to the point that no free members of the species existed until the Ellimist and the Animorphs helped free some.

The resistance on the Hork-Bajir homeworld, led by Aldrea and Dak, eventually was crushed.
Becoming a Controller

After his actions on the Hork-Bajir homeworld, there are repercussions for Alloran. He is quietly removed of his rank but still gets to keep this title. That's not a lot of comfort for someone who believed he had done what was needed. He saw nothing wrong in using the quantum virus as it was just a weapon.

Alloran is forced to transport the arisths Elfangor and Arbron as they are told to return two humans to Earth: Loren and Chapman. This wouldn't be work for a War Prince as it is extremely mundane. While he is distant, especially with the humans, he shows understanding to Loren's father coming back home with PTSD. This is most likely because he experiences the same things himself.

Luckily, or unluckily, the mundane mission turns dangerous.
Arbron figures out that the aliens who had originally captured the humans are in possession of a deadly weapon. A really deadly and legendary weapon that most didn't believe even existed. As the aliens are going into Yeerk territory, Alloran has his 'crew' follow the aliens.
When they get to the Taxxon homeworld Alloran shows a noble side hidden under his gruff exterior. The best moment to highlight this is when Arbron is trapped in Taxxon morph and Alloran calls the young Andalite a Warrior. This means the War Prince felt the young Andalite deserved enough respect to be promoted.

Once Elfangor, Alloran, Chapman, and Loren are all safely on a 'getaway' ship trouble arises. Earlier Elfangor refused to shoot down a ship full of defenseless Yeerks (aka Yeerks without hosts) which had caused Alloran to get angry. However, the War Prince had decided to leave the resolution of the matter until later.

In the heat of their argument Elfangor knocked Alloran out. This caused Esplin 9466, who had secretly been in Chapman's head, to be able to get into the War Prince's body.
Being a Controller and Becoming Free

Being a Controller was the worst thing that happened to Alloran. He had risked everything, his soul and reputation, to fight the Yeerks. He loathed the Yeerks more than anything else and hated those that showed them even a little pity. Or what he saw of as pity.

So to be a slave of his enemy was not kind on his psyche. But there was also a bit of good done because of this torturous part of Alloran's life. Now he had the chance to examine and reexamine everything he thought he knew. He might have even thought back on his actions on the Hork-Bajir homeworld and regretted such a callous action.

Now that he was a Controller he could understand about not wanting to wipe out his entire species as a backup plan.
When Ax attempts to assassinate Visser Three, the Yeerk flees leaving a poisoned Alloran to talk to. He tells the aristh to kill him. The strong War Prince is gone and now replaced with someone weak. He can see no hope and only wants death.

Ax can't bring himself to kill Alloran and flees.
After the war Alloran has been freed which is a good thing. Right? Well that's good if you forget that Andalites are kind of dicks. They willingly blamed the Yeerks turning violent to Seerow and had Ax take the blame for giving the Animorphs' their ability to morph. While Andalites are technological advanced, their society is extremely backwards with things like ableism and sexism being commonplace.

So it is unlikely that the Andalites will be understanding of Alloran's problems. They most likely will blame him for being a Controller. That leaves Jahar being the only one he can turn to. It's sort of sweet that the last person Alloran can find comfort in is his wife.
